Use the GST Council’s Appellate Orders index to look up publicly listed appellate orders, or sign in to the GST Portal to track an appeal you filed. These are different searches: the Council index lists orders, while the portal’s “My Applications” feature shows account-level information about your own demand-order appeal. Neither route is established as a complete public search of every GST appeal or case file.
Choose the right search route
| Your goal | Where to look | What it provides |
|---|---|---|
| Find a publicly listed appellate order | GST Council Appellate Orders index | Listed orders, with filters for State/UT, applicant, and year; result rows include order details and PDF downloads. |
| Check a demand-order appeal you filed | GST Portal account | Your account’s application list, date-range search, status, and related documents. |
| Find every GST appeal, tribunal case, or full party record | Coverage not established by these sources | Do not assume either route contains a complete public record. Confirm any GSTAT search or record service on the tribunal’s current official site. |
Find a publicly listed order in the GST Council index
- Open the GST Council’s Appellate Orders page.
- Use the available State/UT, applicant-name, and year filters to narrow the list.
- Compare the applicant and the appeal order number and date with the brief order summary. Where shown, follow the link to the underlying advance-ruling order as well.
- Select the row’s PDF download to read the full listed order. Keep the order number and date with the PDF so you can identify the document later.
The index includes appellate orders, including Authority for Advance Ruling appellate orders (AAAR). Its listed entries and originating advance-ruling links do not establish that it covers every appeal from every adjudicating authority or every tribunal proceeding.
Track a demand-order appeal you filed
- Sign in to the GST Portal.
- Go to Services > User Services > My Applications.
- Choose Appeal to Appellate Authority, enter the relevant From and To dates, then select Search.
- Open the matching application and review its status and available documents.
The GST Portal FAQ, FAQs: Filing an Appeal against Demand Order (FORM GST APL-01), describes this as the way to view a submitted appeal against a demand order. The FAQ lists statuses including Appeal Submitted, Appeal Admitted, Hearing Notice Issued, Appeal Order Passed, and Appeal Order Passed-Manual. The status tells you the stage shown in the portal; check the application’s documents for the relevant notice or order.
Understand acknowledgments and order copies
The GST Portal FAQ says that APL-02 is the final acknowledgment carrying the appeal number. It also instructs filers to submit a self-certified copy of the appeal order within seven days where the order was not uploaded with the application. Follow the applicable portal instructions for your case and retain the acknowledgment and submitted documents.

What these online records do—and do not—show
The GST Council page is a public catalogue of listed orders; the GST Portal FAQ describes access to the filer’s own submitted appeal through an account. The reviewed official pages do not establish universal public access to complete appellate case files, party records, all GSTAT proceedings, or a GSTAT case-status, order, or cause-list search. If you need a tribunal record, check whether the GSTAT’s current official site provides that specific service rather than inferring coverage from the Council index or portal.

The GST Portal FAQ states generally that an aggrieved taxpayer or unregistered person may appeal within three months of communication of the order. This is a legal deadline, and the FAQ’s general statement is not a substitute for checking the current applicable law, any relevant procedural rules, and the facts of your case. Seek case-specific professional advice if you are unsure when the period starts or whether an exception applies.
