The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on February 26, 2026, covering about 3.2 million brushes. The risk is that a wire bristle can detach, stick to the grill or food, and be swallowed, potentially causing serious internal injury.
Is my Weber grill brush recalled?
Check the model number on the product packaging, then compare it with the six models in the CPSC notice. Only these listed models are included in this Weber recall. The CPSC notice is available at Weber Recalls Grill Brushes Due to Ingestion Hazard.

The recalled brushes sold for $10 to $17 and were sold from 2011 through 2026, according to the CPSC. They were available at Lowe’s, Home Depot, Ace Hardware, and Target, and online through Amazon and Weber.com; they also appeared on resale sites such as eBay. A retailer or marketplace listing alone does not identify a recalled brush: verify the model number.
Why were the brushes recalled?
Metal bristles can loosen from the brush and remain on the grill or food. If swallowed, a bristle can cause serious internal injury and may require surgery. In the CPSC notice, Weber reported at least 38 reports and reviews of detached bristles. Separately, Weber reported four cases in which consumers swallowed bristles and sought medical treatment to remove them from the digestive tract or throat. The 38 reports and reviews should not be read as 38 confirmed injuries.

What should I do with a recalled Weber grill brush?
- Stop using the brush immediately. Do not keep it for another grilling session.
- Contact Weber for the recall remedy. The CPSC says Weber will provide a cold-cleaning nylon-bristle grill brush replacement. Call 877-597-9588, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern Time, or use Weber’s official U.S. recall-event page. Weber.com also has a “Recall Notice” page.
- Discard the recalled brush as instructed. The CPSC says consumers will be asked to discard it; follow Weber’s directions as you complete the remedy.
Peter A. Feldman, then CPSC acting chairman, said on February 26, 2026: “Consumers should not wait until grilling season arrives to take action on this recall.” His statement also advises consumers to stop using and discard metal-wire brushes, switch to non-wire alternatives, inspect the grill surface for detached bristles before grilling, examine food closely, and report incidents at SaferProducts.gov.
What kind of brush should I use instead?
For the official Weber remedy, the CPSC identifies a cold-cleaning nylon-bristle brush. The CPSC also recommends non-wire alternatives. Follow the replacement manufacturer’s cleaning instructions and temperature limits, and make sure the brush suits your grill grate. Do not assume that any brush sold by a particular retailer is part of Weber’s remedy or has been evaluated by the CPSC.
