Volkswagen Group named Texas Instruments (TI) the winner of its 2025 Operational Excellence award, citing resilient semiconductor supply strategies and forward-looking investment in production capacity. The award recognizes a business-to-business supplier relationship; the announcement does not identify a particular TI chip, vehicle model, or consumer product.
What was the Volkswagen Group Award 2025?
TI received the Operational Excellence award at the 21st Volkswagen Group Award ceremony in Wolfsburg, Germany. Volkswagen described the annual event as recognition of supplier performance and long-term collaboration across its supplier network. The program recognized suppliers across 10 strategic categories.
Volkswagen AG Board of Management member Hauke Stars, responsible for IT, and Bernd Zielke, Head of Group Procurement Central Functions, presented the award. TI said its EMEA President Stefan Bruder accepted it on the company’s behalf.
Volkswagen’s announcement also said around 120 key suppliers had gathered in Wolfsburg for the Supplier Management Conference preceding the awards. Volkswagen Group’s July 2, 2025 announcement provides the event details.

Why did Volkswagen honor Texas Instruments?
Volkswagen identified TI’s resilient semiconductor supply strategies and forward-looking investments in production capacity as the reasons for the Operational Excellence recognition. The rationale is about supply reliability and production readiness, rather than a named chip’s performance in a specific car.
The award came as Volkswagen described a plan for more than 30 models in 2025 across regions, brands, and platforms, and highlighted dependable semiconductor supply as important to next-generation vehicle design. That figure was a contemporaneous 2025 plan, not a confirmation of how many models ultimately launched.

What does TI say it supplies to Volkswagen?
TI said it supplies analog and embedded processing products for Volkswagen Group’s next-generation automotive systems. The product categories named in its July 14, 2025 announcement are:
- Microcontrollers and processors
- Power-management devices
- Interface devices
- DLP digital micromirror devices
TI describes semiconductor use in vehicles as spanning functions from engine control to advanced safety and infotainment. It also says its automotive-qualified products help automakers create safer vehicle systems and meet current and future design requirements. These are TI’s descriptions of its technology and its role; the award releases do not independently verify a particular application.

What the announcement does—and does not—establish
The releases name product categories, but not exact part numbers, vehicle programs, supply volumes, contract terms, or specific TI production sites. They establish the award and the companies’ stated rationale, not a particular component fitment or a guarantee of supply beyond what the announcements say.
Bruder characterized TI’s contribution in a company statement: “TI’s technological strength and broad automotive portfolio, paired with our dependable, long-term supply is helping drive the next generation of vehicle innovation,” said Stefan Bruder, president of Texas Instruments Europe. This is TI’s assessment of its offering and supply relationship.
