No new claim can be filed through the FTC’s Fortnite refund program as of October 4, 2026. The final deadline was July 9, 2025. If you already submitted a claim, use the official FTC Fortnite Refunds page to check its current FAQ or contact route. Don’t click a refund link in an unexpected text or email, and never pay someone to obtain a refund.
Can I still claim my Fortnite refund?
No. The FTC’s published program page gives July 9, 2025 as the final deadline to submit a claim. The claim window is closed as of October 4, 2026; fitting one of the program’s categories does not reopen it or guarantee that a claim would have resulted in payment.

The FTC settlement covered particular past billing experiences: unwanted in-game currency charges from January 2017 through September 2022; accounts locked after players complained to their credit-card companies about wrongful charges; and certain charges made by children on a parent’s card without the parent’s knowledge from January 2017 through November 2018. It did not cover every Fortnite purchase. See the FTC’s Fortnite Refunds page for the program’s terms and current status.
Conflicting older articles may reflect earlier deadlines. In June 2025, the FTC announced that it was reopening claims and set July 9, 2025 as the last filing date. That announcement reported a payment round of more than $126 million through 969,173 checks and PayPal payments, and said claims submitted after February 14, 2025 were still under review at that time. Those figures describe the FTC’s June 2025 update, not the present status or outcome of any individual claim. The FTC said Epic agreed to pay $245 million to resolve allegations; that was the settlement amount, not an individual refund. The same announcement said nearly $200 million in FTC refunds had been issued by then. (FTC, June 2025.)

How do I check an existing claim?
- Type the official FTC Fortnite Refunds page address into your browser or find it through the FTC website. Don’t rely on a link in an unsolicited message.
- Read the page’s current FAQ and use the contact route listed there for questions about a claim you already submitted.
- Have any claim-related information you received available when contacting the FTC, but don’t send payment or disclose financial details to an unexpected caller, texter, or email sender.
The FTC administers this settlement program. Epic’s store refund process and a console or mobile store’s policy are separate and cannot be used to file a missed FTC claim.
Is a Fortnite refund text or email real?
The FTC warns: “If you get an email or text message that tells you to click a link or pay to get your refund, it’s a scam.” The warning is on the FTC’s consumer advice page.

- Don’t pay a “refund helper” or anyone claiming they can unlock, speed up, or guarantee a settlement payment.
- Don’t treat a message link as proof that you qualify. Navigate to the FTC page yourself and check its listed information.
- Don’t provide payment details to someone who contacts you unexpectedly. Use only the official FTC page’s current instructions for claim questions.
Which refund route applies to my purchase?
| Route | What it covers | Can you start a new request? | Where to go |
|---|---|---|---|
| FTC settlement | Specific past billing experiences and date ranges described by the FTC, not all Fortnite purchases. | No. The claim deadline was July 9, 2025. | FTC Fortnite Refunds page for information about an existing claim. |
| Epic Games Store purchase | Eligible purchases made through Epic checkout, subject to the product’s designation and Epic’s policy. | Potentially, if the purchase meets the current policy. | Epic’s Store Refund Policy and, for eligible self-refundable purchases, its refund instructions. |
| Console or other mobile store | Purchases processed by that store, under its refund policy. | Depends on the store’s rules. | Contact the store where the transaction was made; Epic says it cannot process payments managed by another platform. |
Can Epic refund an ordinary purchase?
Epic’s policy applies to purchases processed through Epic checkout on PC, Mac, or mobile, including Fortnite real-money purchases powered by the Epic Games Store. Eligibility depends on the product’s refundable or non-refundable designation and the policy in effect for the purchase. Generally, refundable or self-refundable PC and Mac products must be within 14 days of purchase—or within 14 days of release for a pre-purchase—and have less than two hours of runtime. Eligible mobile products have a two-hour window. These time limits do not make every Fortnite cosmetic, virtual currency purchase, or other digital item refundable.
Epic says in-game items, subscriptions, virtual currency, and consumable digital items are usually non-refundable unless applicable law requires otherwise. Check the exact product label and the current Epic Store Refund Policy rather than assuming store-game rules apply to every item.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Requesting an eligible Epic Store self-refund
- Sign in to your Epic account.
- Open Account settings, then Transactions.
- Find the purchase and select Request refund.
- Choose a reason and submit the request.
Epic says eligible refunds typically return to the original payment method within 10 business days. Check the current support instructions for full details, including any regional account-balance option. This procedure is for eligible Epic Store purchases, not a way to submit a late FTC claim.
Purchases made through a console or third-party mobile store
For a purchase made on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Apple, Google Play, or another store rather than Epic Games Store, contact the store that processed the transaction and follow its refund policy. Epic states: “Epic Games does not have the ability to process refunds for purchases made through payment systems that are not managed by Epic.” See Epic’s guidance on console and mobile store purchases. Eligibility and outcomes depend on that store; a refund is not guaranteed.

What happens to Fortnite items after a refund or payment reversal?
Epic says a completed refund or payment reversal may cause the purchased items to be removed automatically. Epic Player Support cannot restore those items. For a third-party purchase, contact the relevant store or payment provider as appropriate. See Epic’s item-removal guidance.
