How to Check GST Notices and Reply Status on the GST Portal

GST notices, audit replies, appeal tracking, and recovery intimations use different GST Portal workflows. Here is where to look and what the listed statuses mean.

To check a GST notice, sign in to the GST Portal and open Services > User Services > View Additional Notices and Orders for notice types handled there. A reply option is not available for every communication. Appeal progress is tracked separately under My Applications, and its status labels apply to appeals—not to GST notices generally.

Check notices in the GST Portal

  1. Open the official GST Portal and log in with your valid credentials. The GST Portal tutorial describes the login process.

  2. Go to Services > User Services > View Additional Notices and Orders. GSTN identifies this area for specified notice and order workflows; the available folders and actions depend on the case type. See GSTN’s functionality release.

  3. Open the relevant notice or case and read the form, subject, and instructions before choosing an action. In some enforcement workflows, the notice is accessed through a linked case area and its Notices folder, so the next step may not be the same for every taxpayer.

How replies and status checks differ by case

Case or communication Where to look Reply or status details established by GSTN
Audit notice or report Services > User Services > View Additional Notices and Orders GSTN says audit notices and reports issued by tax officials appear in this area. Taxpayers can reply and upload documents. The workflow also includes discrepancy-wise options to accept, reject, or pay liabilities, and options to request an adjournment or extension of the audit date. See GSTN’s January–March 2021 functionality release.
Appeal against a demand order Services > User Services > My Applications, then choose Appeal to Appellate Authority, enter a date range, and search The GST Portal FAQ lists appeal-specific states: Appeal Submitted, Appeal admitted, Appeal Rejected, Hearing Notice Issued, and Reply Submitted. These describe appeal tracking, not a universal notice status. See GST Portal FAQs.
Form GST DRC-01D Read the form and its instructions; do not assume there is a reply action GSTN describes DRC-01D as an intimation for initiating recovery proceedings and says a portal reply is not allowed for it. Its April–June 2024 functionality compilation says the specified amount is to be paid within seven days from issue. This instruction is specific to DRC-01D. See GSTN’s April–June 2024 functionality compilation.

Why a reply button or reply status may be missing

A notice, an order, an appeal update, and a recovery intimation may follow different portal workflows. GSTN documents reply and document-upload capability for audit notices, but says no reply can be submitted to DRC-01D. The appeal status labels belong to the separate appeal-tracking route. A missing reply action by itself does not establish what response, if any, is required; check the specific form and its instructions.
