The advertised “up to 38% off” claim refers to a TP-Link Archer GE800 offer reported on September 6, 2025—not a verified deal today. HotHardware then listed it at $369.99, $230 below MSRP. Because router prices and stock change, that figure should not be treated as a current offer; check the retailer’s live price, seller and availability before buying.
Is the TP-Link Archer GE800 38% off right now?
That discount is historical, not a confirmed current deal. HotHardware’s September 6, 2025 roundup reported the Archer GE800 at $369.99, $230 below MSRP. The retailer category page available for comparison is dynamic and does not establish today’s price or stock for this model. For a purchase decision, verify the live listing and compare its selling price with the stated reference price on the same day.

The historical article also named less expensive dual-band and multi-unit mesh options, but its reported prices are not current quotes. No live, model-specific deal has been established here for October 2026, so there is no sound basis to label any named router a current bargain or repeat the 38% figure as a present discount.
What does the Archer GE800 offer for its price?
TP-Link identifies the Archer GE800 as a BE19000 tri-band Wi-Fi 7 gaming router. The manufacturer lists maximum wireless rates of 11,520 Mbps on 6 GHz, 5,760 Mbps on 5 GHz and 1,376 Mbps on 2.4 GHz. These are theoretical physical-layer rates, not measured internet speeds or a promise that a device will achieve those speeds. Actual throughput and coverage vary with the client device, internet service, network, building and surrounding conditions, as TP-Link notes on its product specifications page.

Its wired connections include two 10 Gbps WAN/LAN ports, four 2.5 Gbps LAN ports and one USB 3.0 port. WAN/LAN flexibility means a compatible port can serve the WAN or LAN role; it does not mean a 10 Gbps internet connection is included. TP-Link says its 10 Gbps internet-speed capability depends on compatible service and equipment.
The extra 6 GHz band and Wi-Fi 7 features matter only if your devices and local regulations can use them. TP-Link says Wi-Fi 7 and Multi-Link Operation (MLO) require client devices that support the relevant features. It also says 320 MHz channel bandwidth is available only on 6 GHz and may be unavailable in some regions because of regulatory restrictions. If most of your devices cannot use 6 GHz or Wi-Fi 7 features, paying more for a tri-band gaming router may bring little practical benefit.

How to compare router deals with different designs
A lower advertised price is not automatically better value when products differ in band support, wired connections and coverage design. The historical roundup included a dual-band standalone router, a tri-band standalone router and multi-unit mesh kits; those categories solve different problems.
| Type | What it means | Best fit to consider | Check before buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual-band standalone router | Uses 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, without a 6 GHz band. The roundup described the NETGEAR Nighthawk RS180 this way. | A home whose devices and needs do not justify 6 GHz, or a shopper prioritizing a lower purchase price. | Current price, wired-port speeds and whether the router can cover the home from one location. |
| Tri-band standalone router | Adds a third band, commonly 6 GHz in Wi-Fi 7 models. The Archer GE800 is one example. | Homes with compatible Wi-Fi 7/6 GHz clients or a specific need for its wired ports and gaming-oriented features. | Regional 6 GHz availability, client support, port layout and the current discount basis. |
| Multi-unit mesh kit | Uses multiple units to extend a home network across locations. The roundup included NETGEAR Orbi 770 and TP-Link Deco BE63 systems. | Homes where a single router’s placement does not provide the desired reach and a multi-node setup is appropriate. | Number of included units, wired backhaul and port details, current kit price, and the exact model’s compatibility requirements. |
The roundup establishes these products as examples of their respective categories, but does not provide verified current pricing or complete comparable specifications for them. Check manufacturer and retailer listings for the exact configuration rather than assuming that a product name alone identifies what is in the box.

What to check before paying
- Confirm the actual offer. Open the retailer listing for the exact model and configuration. Record the selling price, reference price, seller and date checked; confirm the item is in stock. A category results page is not enough to validate a model-specific deal.
- Match the hardware to your devices. Check whether your clients support Wi-Fi 7, MLO and 6 GHz. A router’s advertised maximum rate does not upgrade older devices.
- Choose a coverage approach. Compare one router with a multi-unit mesh kit based on your home layout and router placement. Do not treat a stated coverage area as guaranteed performance in every building.
- Check the wired path. Compare WAN/LAN and LAN port speeds with your modem, internet plan and wired devices. Multi-gig router ports do not make a slower service plan faster.
- Verify the discount baseline. Make sure the claimed saving compares the live price with a clearly identified reference price. Do not rely on the 2025 Archer GE800 price as a current benchmark.
Should you buy a Wi-Fi 7 router or mesh system?
Choose a standalone router when one well-placed unit suits your home and its wired ports and wireless bands fit your devices. Consider mesh when distributing multiple units is a better match for your layout than relying on a single router. The Wi-Fi generation alone does not decide between them: compare the specific kit’s price, included units, band support and wired options against the standalone router you are considering.
A gaming feature set can be relevant to a latency-sensitive setup, but it does not guarantee lower latency. Results depend on the internet connection, network congestion, device and game service; the cited product specifications do not establish a performance advantage in a particular home.
