Kyndryl and Dynatrace announced a global alliance on November 1, 2023, combining Dynatrace’s observability technology with Kyndryl’s consulting and implementation and managed services. The companies said the work would focus on unified observability, application modernization and enhanced AIOps. Those are intended capabilities and benefits—not a guarantee of better performance or lower costs for every customer.
What the Kyndryl-Dynatrace alliance is
The announcement describes a global business alliance, not a merger or acquisition. Dynatrace supplies an observability and security platform; Kyndryl brings Kyndryl Consult and services for assessing, building, implementing and managing solutions. The goal is to help organizations understand how applications and their supporting infrastructure perform, including in complex cloud environments. Kyndryl’s November 1, 2023 announcement sets out the alliance’s scope.
The global announcement followed earlier regional collaboration. On February 16, 2022, the companies announced work in Brazil focused on implementing Dynatrace observability to integrate and accelerate operations in multicloud environments with Kyndryl’s expertise. The Brazil announcement describes that earlier effort.
What the companies said they would work on
Unified observability
Observability tools collect and connect information about applications and the systems they depend on, helping operations teams investigate performance and identify where problems may originate. The alliance’s stated aim is to give customers a more coherent view of application composition and performance across their environments.

Application modernization
Kyndryl said it would help customers assess applications and build and implement tailored solutions. In practice, modernization work can involve understanding existing applications and their dependencies before changing how they run. The announcement describes the service scope, but does not specify a universal migration method, timetable or result.
Enhanced AIOps
AIOps uses analytics and automation to support IT operations. The companies said the alliance would help automate low-value manual activities and improve diagnosis and recovery. They also named minimizing outages and optimizing resource consumption as objectives. These are goals in the companies’ announcement, not independently established outcomes.
What customers may receive from Kyndryl
Kyndryl described a service path that can extend beyond access to software. Its announced services for Dynatrace customers include:
- Application assessment.
- Building and implementing custom solutions.
- Continuous managed services, including real-time monitoring and related cloud-managed services.
A 2026 Dynatrace-Kyndryl solution brief adds implementation examples for managed services across mainframes, virtual machines and containers. It describes integrating Dynatrace health metrics through Kyndryl Bridge APIs, using Kyndryl’s Ansible platform for remediation, and establishing an observability Center of Excellence.

The brief cites “7,000+ playbooks” for closed-loop remediation through Kyndryl’s Ansible platform. That figure is a vendor-published description, not independent validation or evidence of a measured customer outcome. The brief’s newer technical examples indicate possible integration approaches; they do not establish that every customer deployment includes them.

Kyndryl’s alliance page names Banco Patagonia and CIB Bank as examples, while the 2023 announcement quotes Hapag-Lloyd on its observability transformation. These are company-supplied customer examples. They show the companies’ chosen illustrations of the work, but the cited materials do not provide independent case evaluations or a named statistic measuring the alliance’s customer impact. See the Kyndryl-Dynatrace alliance page for the named examples.
For an organization considering the services, the relevant question is not only whether a platform can surface operational data, but whether the implementation fits its systems and produces outcomes it can measure. The announcements do not provide comparable pricing, service-level terms or independently measured results, so they do not support a cost or performance ranking against other observability options.
Quick Recap
Best Value
What a business should assess before engaging
- Coverage: Which applications, infrastructure and environments—including any mainframes, virtual machines, containers or cloud platforms—would be included?
- Existing operations: How would Dynatrace data connect to current service-management, monitoring and automation processes?
- Delivery scope: What is included in assessment, implementation and ongoing managed services, and what remains the customer’s responsibility?
- Success measures: Agree on baselines and targets for outcomes such as incident diagnosis time, recovery time, outage frequency or resource use. The alliance announcement presents these as aims rather than guaranteed results.
- Commercial terms: Request the applicable pricing, service levels, regional availability and responsibilities directly; the cited public materials do not state comparable terms.
