Not according to the completed-sale record. On June 27, 2025, Jeff Bezos filed a notice proposing to sell 25 million Amazon shares valued at $5.428 billion. A later SEC filing reported sales totaling 3,324,926 shares across June 27 and June 30—not a completed 25-million-share sale on his wedding day.
What the $5.4 billion filing actually said
Bezos’s June 27, 2025, SEC Form 144 named 25,000,000 Amazon common shares and gave them an aggregate market value of $5,428,000,000. The form’s title calls it a “NOTICE OF PROPOSED SALE OF SECURITIES,” so it records a proposed transaction, not proof that all 25 million shares were sold or that Bezos received $5.428 billion in proceeds. The notice listed June 27 as the approximate sale date, and it identified March 4, 2025, as the plan-adoption date. The filing’s proposed value should therefore not be treated as the amount of a completed wedding-day sale.
What the later SEC filing reported as sold
A Form 4 filed July 1 reported three sale lines dated June 27 and June 30. Adding those lines gives a derived total of 3,324,926 shares; that total is calculated from the reported transactions, not printed as a single total in the form.

The weighted-average price and individual prices are those reported in the SEC Form 4, not a calculation of net proceeds. After the disclosed transactions, the form reported 905,454,975 shares remaining directly held by Bezos. SEC Form 4, filed July 1, 2025.
How the wedding date and trading plan fit in
GeekWire reported on June 27, 2025, that Bezos married Lauren Sánchez that day and described the stock filing in the context of the wedding. The SEC filings do not mention the wedding; the overlap is a date coincidence, not an explanation of why the transactions occurred. GeekWire’s June 27, 2025 report.

Both the Form 144 notice and the Form 4 associate the activity with a Rule 10b5-1 trading plan adopted March 4, 2025. That timing is relevant context: the filings tie the transactions to a plan adopted months before the wedding date. It does not establish the plan’s motivation or where any proceeds went.

GeekWire reported that Bezos sold more than $13 billion in Amazon stock during 2024. It also cited Amazon’s February proxy statement for a historical figure of about 9.6% of the company’s outstanding stock. That percentage is a source-reported figure from that period, not a current ownership estimate. The 2024 sales provide context, but they do not turn the 2025 proposed-sale notice into evidence that 25 million shares were sold.
