Tesla delivered 1,789,226 vehicles in 2024, down from 1,808,581 in 2023—a decline of about 1.1%, based on the company’s reported totals. The Cybertruck was on sale during its first full calendar year, but Tesla did not disclose its annual deliveries separately, so the figures show that the truck did not prevent an overall drop—not how much it contributed to sales.
How much did Tesla deliveries fall in 2024?
Tesla reported 1,789,226 vehicle deliveries for 2024, compared with 1,808,581 for 2023, according to its investor relations release. The difference is 19,355 vehicles, or roughly 1.1% of the 2023 total. Reuters and the Associated Press also reported a 1.1% decline.
| Year | Tesla deliveries | Change from prior year |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,808,581 | — |
| 2024 | 1,789,226 | Down 19,355, or about 1.1% |
The drop marked Tesla’s first annual delivery decline, as reported by Reuters and the Associated Press. Deliveries are vehicles handed to customers, not orders or production.
How many Cybertrucks did Tesla deliver in 2024?
Tesla did not publish a Cybertruck-only annual delivery figure in the release reviewed. Its “other models” category combines Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck, so that combined total cannot be treated as the pickup’s sales.

#1 Best Overall
Reuters reported 495,570 Tesla deliveries in the fourth quarter of 2024: 471,930 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles and 23,640 combined “other models.” The 23,640 figure covers all three models in that category; it is not a Cybertruck count. The available figures therefore cannot show how many deliveries the Cybertruck added or what Tesla’s total would have been without it.
What factors did reports cite for the decline?
Reuters cited several pressures on demand: borrowing costs, reduced subsidies in Europe, lower-priced hybrid alternatives in the United States, and competition, particularly from BYD. The Associated Press described a sluggish start, competition, and an aging lineup. These are reported explanations, not measured estimates of how much each factor contributed to the year’s decline.

The explanations also span different markets. Changes to European subsidies, US shoppers’ alternatives, and competition from BYD are distinct pressures; the reporting does not assign a numerical share of Tesla’s global decline to any one of them.

The annual totals establish that Tesla delivered fewer vehicles in 2024 than in 2023, despite the Cybertruck’s first full calendar year of sales. They do not establish that the Cybertruck caused, or failed to cause, a particular change in demand: without a separate truck count or a counterfactual, its independent effect cannot be calculated.

The Associated Press quoted Jeff Schuster, vice president of automotive research at Global Data, saying: “If they want to continue to see the growth they had, they need to expand to other sizes and price points.” That is an analyst’s view about Tesla’s growth prospects, rather than a breakdown of what caused the 2024 delivery decline.
