It described HDAC as a provider of verification technology for RTL designers and said Averant was focused exclusively on static verification products for designers. Those descriptions reflect the company’s stated focus in 2000, not a current product catalog.
Why the company chose the Averant name
The announcement said the name was intended to represent the company’s strategic positioning in verification technologies. It presented “Averant” as a newly coined word combining “aver” and “-ant”: “aver” was explained as “confirm to be true,” suggesting confirmation of design intent and correctness, while “-ant” was said to imply a proactive approach to business. These were the announcement’s explanations of the name.
