CDKeys became Loaded in September 2025. The retailer said the old name felt dated for a business selling digital game codes; outside coverage and commenters, meanwhile, noted that “Loaded” does not immediately tell shoppers what the store sells. Those reactions illustrate possible confusion, not a measured view of customers as a whole.
What changed—and when
Loaded announced the change on 26 August 2025, saying the CDKeys name would be replaced in September. Its customer-service page confirms that the rebrand took place that month and describes the store as previously CDKeys. Loaded’s announcement and its customer-service page establish the company’s timeline.
The store currently presents digital games for PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo. Its customer-service page also lists memberships and top-ups among what it sells. That continuity of business categories is distinct from the question of whether every customer-facing term or policy remained unchanged.
Why Loaded said it retired the CDKeys name
In its 26 August announcement, Loaded said it had sold digital game codes for more than ten years under a name associated with an era of boxed games and discs. It described CDKeys as sounding “dry and outdated” (translated from the Spanish-language announcement) and said it wanted a name better suited to a digital-code retailer.

The company also said the old name could be difficult to distinguish in search results from generic “CD keys” and could be mistaken for other entities. This is Loaded’s stated rationale; the announcement does not independently establish that search confusion caused the rebrand.
What Loaded said customers should expect
Loaded characterized the change as a new name at the top of the store: “The only thing that changes is the name at the top of the store,” according to its translated announcement. It also promised that its discounts, delivery and platform offering would continue. Those are the company’s assurances about the intended customer-facing change, not an independent audit of every term or service.

Why the new name can be harder to recognize
“CDKeys” could refer both to the retailer and, more generally, to game activation codes. That overlap may have made the old name harder to distinguish, as Loaded argued, but it also gave shoppers a clue about the product category. “Loaded” does not identify gaming or digital codes on its own.
Windows Central’s 1 September 2025 coverage called the new name ambiguous and noted that it could mean many things rather than immediately signaling a game store. In a public r/xbox discussion on 30 August, one commenter wrote: “There’s also ongoing confusion between CDKeys the company and ‘CD keys’ the product.” Another called “Loaded” a vague buzzword that could be difficult to search for. These are examples of individual reactions, not survey results or evidence of how many customers were confused.

How customers can confirm the store’s identity
The retailer’s official customer-service page connects the names directly: it says Loaded was previously CDKeys and identifies its current categories. That makes the support page a useful continuity check for anyone who recognizes the former name but encounters the new one. The rebrand itself does not establish a change in ownership, trustworthiness, prices or policies.
