The Beekeeper grossed $160,304,873 worldwide in theaters, according to The Numbers, including $66,220,535 domestically and $94,084,338 internationally. The database lists a $40 million production-budget estimate. The assigned “$75M hit” figure is not supported as the film’s final worldwide gross by that total; its origin is unclear.

How much did The Beekeeper make at the box office?

The Numbers lists the film’s worldwide theatrical gross at $160,304,873, divided between $66,220,535 in domestic box office and $94,084,338 internationally. These are database figures and may be revised or differ from other sources. The Numbers also lists an estimated $40 million production budget; that is a database estimate, not a studio-confirmed disclosure.

Measure Reported figure Qualification
Worldwide theatrical gross $160,304,873 The Numbers, accessed 2026
Domestic theatrical gross $66,220,535 The Numbers, accessed 2026
International theatrical gross $94,084,338 The Numbers, accessed 2026
Production budget $40,000,000 The Numbers estimate, accessed 2026; not studio-confirmed

The $75 million wording should not be treated as the final worldwide total: the checked box-office listing gives a substantially higher figure, while the source set does not establish what the $75 million refers to. Nor does comparing gross with the listed budget reveal profit. Theaters retain part of ticket sales, and the comparison excludes marketing, distribution, financing, and other costs.

Eight factors that help explain the film’s box-office performance

The available figures describe the film’s scale and theatrical run, but they do not isolate why individual moviegoers bought tickets. These are plausible points of appeal and performance context, not proven causes of its total.

1. Jason Statham is a recognizable action lead

Statham stars, and Miramax foregrounds him in its presentation of the film. Familiarity with an established action lead may have helped audiences quickly understand the kind of movie on offer; the available figures do not measure how much his presence drove ticket sales.

2. The revenge premise is easy to grasp

Miramax’s synopsis sets out a victim, a financial scam, and a protagonist seeking retaliation. That direct setup gives an audience a clear reason to follow the story without needing an elaborate explanation of its stakes.

3. It delivers a legible action-thriller promise

The film is presented as an action revenge thriller. That familiar genre framing can make its appeal easy to recognize, but it should not be mistaken for evidence that the movie changed or reinvented the genre.

4. A wide opening gave it broad initial access

The Numbers reports a domestic opening weekend of $16,576,007 from 3,303 theaters, following a January 12, 2024 domestic release. That opening established a substantial starting base across North American cinemas.

5. Its third-weekend decline was relatively modest

The Associated Press reported a $7.4 million North American third weekend, down 14% from the previous weekend, with the domestic total at $42.3 million and the film past $100 million worldwide at that point. It also reached number one domestically during a quiet weekend with no new wide release. The light release schedule is important context; the chart position alone does not show how it would have performed against stronger new competition.

6. International markets contributed the larger share

The Numbers’ international total of $94,084,338 exceeds its domestic figure of $66,220,535. Its listing assigns 41.3% of the domestic-and-international total to domestic gross, making overseas markets the larger component. Those totals show where the reported box office came from, not why audiences in particular territories responded.

7. The theatrical rollout reached multiple markets

The Numbers records a January 12, 2024 domestic release and international openings beginning January 10 in some territories. That release footprint helps explain how the film accumulated a worldwide theatrical total, but it does not establish what campaign tactics or market-specific choices were used.

8. It continued into the physical-media market

The Numbers lists an MGM Video release on January 30, 2024, as well as estimated sales of $2,787,055 for DVD and $3,215,678 for Blu-ray. These are database estimates, not a measure of theatrical receipts or overall profitability; the listing does not establish current availability.

What the box-office numbers can—and cannot—tell you

The Numbers lists a domestic gross equal to 41.3% of the combined domestic and international total, an opening weekend of $16,576,007, 3,303 opening theaters, and a domestic-gross-to-opening-weekend “legs” ratio of 3.99. These metrics offer ways to describe the run and compare it with another film when the same source and measures are used. They do not identify what caused audience demand.

The figures also do not establish marketing spend, audience demographics, ticket-price effects, campaign reach, or the relative influence of word of mouth or Statham’s star power. A gross-to-budget ratio is not a profit calculation: theatrical revenue is shared with exhibitors, and the production-budget estimate does not include all costs of bringing a film to market.

Audience ratings are a separate snapshot

At access, Prime Video’s listing showed an IMDb rating of 6.3/10 and a Prime Video customer score of 4.7/5 from 56,280 ratings. The latter is a platform-specific snapshot, not a stable measure of all viewers or independent confirmation of box-office performance.
