First check whether the allocation has been issued, unlocked, and made claimable; then verify the receiving address, network, and transaction on the relevant block explorer. Only if the explorer shows the token at the right address should you troubleshoot hidden assets or import the token into your wallet.
1. Check whether the presale allocation is issued and claimable
A presale allocation does not always arrive as an immediately transferable on-chain balance. The project may have a future claim date, a vesting schedule, a lockup, or a claim process that has not opened. Check the official sale dashboard and the project’s published terms for the allocation’s status and claim window.
Some grant platforms also require an issuer to create or publish a grant, activate it, and fund the associated claim mechanism. Coinbase Token Manager, for example, says its grants can be pending activation or remain locked even after vesting. That describes Coinbase’s grant process; it is not a universal rule for presales. 2. Match the wallet account and network to the presale
Wallet apps can contain multiple accounts, and the selected blockchain network can differ from the one used by the project. Check the public address in the active wallet account against the address you registered for the presale. Then select the exact network named in the project’s claim instructions or transaction details. A token with the same name on another network may be a different asset.

3. Verify the claim or transfer on a block explorer
Use the transaction link provided by the project, or search your public receiving address on the explorer for the relevant blockchain. Confirm that the transaction succeeded, that the recipient is your address, and that the token contract matches the project’s official information. MetaMask recommends checking the transaction and comparing the address balance on an explorer; Uniswap also advises inspecting transaction details to confirm completion. - No successful transaction: The token may not have been claimed or transferred yet. A wallet cannot show an on-chain receipt that does not exist.
- Pending or failed transaction: This is a transaction issue, not merely a display issue. Follow the wallet or issuer’s guidance for that specific transaction.
- Approval only: A token approval grants a contract permission to act; it is separate from the swap or transfer you intended. Uniswap notes that an approval by itself does not confirm that the swap was completed. Uniswap’s transaction guidance
- Successful transfer to another address: Display settings will not change the recipient. Contact the issuer or sending service to ask what options exist; do not assume the transaction can be reversed.
4. If the explorer shows the tokens, fix the wallet display
If the explorer shows a balance at the correct address on the correct network, check whether the wallet has hidden or filtered the asset. Hiding a token affects its presentation in the wallet, not the on-chain balance. KuCoin explains this distinction in its asset visibility guidance.
If the asset is not listed, use the wallet’s custom-token or import function and enter the verified contract address for that network. MetaMask and Uniswap describe manual addition for tokens that are not detected automatically. MetaMask token guidance; Uniswap wallet guidance
Get the contract address from the project’s official documentation or confirm it through a trusted explorer. A token’s name and symbol are not proof of identity: different assets can use the same labels. KuCoin warns against copying token addresses from unknown messages or suspicious sites. A claim may require the chain’s native token to pay gas. Confirm that the wallet has enough for the transaction, then check with the project whether the allocation is active and unlocked and whether the claim mechanism is funded and set up. Coinbase Token Manager identifies gas, grant status, lockup, and issuer setup as possible factors in its own grant process; its guidance also directs recipients to contact the company administrator when grant or escrow setup needs confirmation. If your wallet warns that a claim contract is unverified, do not dismiss the warning because a webpage looks official. For Coinbase Token Manager grants, its guidance says to obtain the official escrow contract address from the grant administrator and compare it with the address shown in the wallet. For another presale, verify the contract with that project through an official channel you find independently.

Protect your wallet while troubleshooting
- Never share your recovery phrase or private key with a support agent, claim page, or anyone offering to make the balance appear. Checking an explorer or importing a public token contract does not require wallet secrets.
- Do not follow unsolicited token links or connect your wallet to a site promising to claim or unlock an unexpected asset. KuCoin warns that unknown wallet tokens may be spam or scams. KuCoin Web3 Wallet Help
- Verify the token contract and network against the project’s official information; do not rely on a name, symbol, or unsolicited message.
- If a successful transaction and balance appear on the explorer but the token remains missing after a verified import, contact the wallet provider through its official support channel. Uniswap recommends doing this when a completed transaction is visible but the wallet does not show the token. Uniswap support guidance
