Kanye West’s Net Worth: How Much Did Controversy Cost Him?

Forbes’ October 2026 estimate puts Kanye West’s net worth at $400 million. The implied $1.6 billion decline after Adidas ended Yeezy is an estimate, not a verified cash loss.

Forbes’ profile showed Kanye West’s net worth at an estimated $400 million on October 3, 2026. That is about $1.6 billion below the rounded $2 billion estimate reported before Adidas ended its Yeezy partnership—but the difference is a change in estimated wealth, not proof that $1.6 billion was taken from West’s bank account. West later shared a separate $2.77 billion valuation claim that has not been established as independently verified.

What is Kanye West’s net worth?

Forbes’ live profile displayed a real-time estimate of $400 million as of October 3, 2026. Forbes says its estimate accounts for cash, real estate, the value of West’s music catalog, and a 5% stake in Skims. It also says the Adidas deal had been valued at $1.5 billion and that West’s fortune was $400 million without it. Forbes’ profile is an estimate, not an audited statement of his personal finances.

Forbes’ current figure should not be mistaken for a confirmed balance sheet. Net worth combines estimates of assets and liabilities, and the available figures do not establish how much cash West personally received, retained, or lost.

How much did Kanye West lose when Adidas dropped Yeezy?

Comparing the rounded $2 billion estimate reported before the split with Forbes’ later $400 million estimate implies a decline of roughly $1.6 billion. That is an estimated change in wealth, not a documented cash loss attributable solely to the partnership ending. The figures are rounded valuations from different points in time, and net-worth estimates can change as asset values and assumptions change. The Independent’s January 24, 2025 report describes the earlier estimate and West’s later competing claim.

Why did Adidas end the partnership?

On October 25, 2022, Adidas announced it was terminating its partnership with Ye, ending production of Yeezy-branded products, and stopping payments to Ye and his companies. The company cited Ye’s antisemitic and other hate-speech comments and actions, saying they violated its values. Adidas stated: “adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech.”

Adidas also said it owned the design rights to products under the partnership: “adidas is the sole owner of all design rights to existing products as well as previous and new colorways under the partnership.” The company’s statement is available in its October 25, 2022 announcement.

Adidas’ financial impact is not West’s personal loss

Adidas disclosed several financial effects of ending Yeezy, but they describe the company’s results—not payments to West or losses from his personal balance sheet.

Figure What Adidas said it measured
Up to €250 million Adidas’ forecast short-term negative impact on its own 2022 net income after ending the partnership, announced in October 2022.
About €500 million Adidas’ year-over-year sales drag in 2023 from discontinuing Yeezy.
About €750 million Adidas’ net sales from two drops of remaining Yeezy products in 2023.
About €300 million Adidas’ incremental operating profit from selling remaining Yeezy stock in the second and third quarters of 2023.

These figures are from Adidas’ full-year 2023 results, published January 31, 2024. Sales and operating profit earned by Adidas from remaining inventory should not be counted as West’s income without evidence that he received those amounts.

Why did West say his net worth was $2.77 billion?

On January 24, 2025, West shared a valuation claim of $2.77 billion attributed to Eton Venture Services. The reported basis was his music portfolio and ownership of the Yeezy mark. This was West sharing a valuation attributed to a services firm; the available reporting does not establish that it was independently verified or calculated on the same basis as Forbes’ estimate.

Is Kanye West still a billionaire?

The answer depends on which valuation is being used. Forbes’ profile displayed $400 million in October 2026, which is below $1 billion; West had shared a $2.77 billion claim in 2025. Because those figures have different attribution, timing, and stated bases—and neither is an audited personal financial statement—the evidence does not support treating billionaire status as settled fact.
