SSDI payments in August 2025 were scheduled for August 13, August 20, or August 27 for most recipients. The applicable Wednesday depended on the insured worker’s birthday. This is a historical 2025 schedule; use Social Security’s current calendar or your personal payment schedule for a current date.
August 2025 SSDI payment dates
The Social Security Administration’s 2025 payment calendar assigns most SSDI recipients to a Wednesday payment cycle based on the insured worker’s birth date:

The birthday used for this schedule is the insured worker’s—not necessarily the birthday of a spouse or other person receiving benefits on that worker’s record. SSA’s payment-date FAQ describes the birthday-based Wednesday schedule and its exceptions.
Who may be paid on a different date?
Recipients on the third-of-the-month schedule
People who received or applied for Social Security benefits on or before April 30, 1997, and people receiving both Social Security and SSI generally receive their Social Security payment on the third of the month, rather than on a birthday-based Wednesday. In August 2025, the third fell on Sunday. Under 20 CFR § 404.1807, a payment date on a Saturday, Sunday, or federal legal holiday is moved to the preceding eligible day. That made the August 2025 payment date Friday, August 1.

SSI-only payments
SSI-only benefits are generally scheduled for the first of the month. They are separate from SSDI, even though some people receive both programs.
Other exceptions
Federal rules also assign dates for certain people living outside the United States and people whose state pays their Medicare premium under the referenced program. Birthday alone may not identify the right date in these cases; check an SSA notice or your personal schedule.

For an individual’s past or upcoming date, sign in to SSA’s benefit payment schedule. You can also call SSA’s automated assistance line at 1-800-772-1213 and say “check delivery” when prompted.

SSA’s 2025 calendar says: “If you don’t receive your payment on the expected date, please allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security.” If it still has not arrived after that period, contact SSA to follow up.
