Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteWindows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallBefore you retry, check the transaction on the correct network. A wallet’s “pending” or “failed” label is not enough to tell whether your payment reached the presale: use the transaction hash and the network’s block explorer to determine whether it is still pending, failed, confirmed, or not visible on-chain. The next step depends on that status.
First, check the transaction on the right network
- Open the transaction details in your wallet and note the transaction hash and network. Follow the explorer link shown there, or search the hash in the official block explorer for that network.
- Check the sender address, destination or contract, amount, network, and explorer status. If available, note the transaction nonce as well.
- Use the explorer result—not just the wallet label—to decide what to do next. MetaMask recommends checking the block explorer before resetting local wallet activity. See MetaMask’s guidance on pending transactions and its account-reset guidance.
If the transaction is not visible in the explorer, that may indicate a wallet display or broadcast issue; it does not establish that the presale received or rejected the payment. Do not send a second payment until you understand what happened to the first one.
If the transaction is pending
On Ethereum and compatible networks, a transaction fee that is low relative to current network demand can leave a transaction waiting. If your wallet still recognizes it as pending, it may offer a “speed up” option. Depending on the wallet and network, this resubmits a transaction using the same nonce with a higher fee. You will spend more if you approve the higher fee; check the destination, amount, and proposed fee before confirming. MetaMask explains these options in its pending-transaction instructions, and Ethereum.org describes how to speed up an Ethereum transaction.
Can you cancel it?
Cancellation is an attempt to replace a transaction that is still pending, generally by submitting another transaction with the same nonce. It is not guaranteed, and the replacement may incur a network fee. Wallet controls and exact steps differ by network. Once the original transaction is confirmed, pending-transaction controls cannot cancel it: MetaMask states, “Transactions that have already been confirmed cannot be reversed.”

If the transaction failed
Read the explorer’s failure details before attempting another payment. A failed contract call can still consume gas: gas pays for the computation used to process and verify the transaction, even when execution fails. MetaMask says that this gas payment goes to validators, not to MetaMask. See MetaMask’s explanation of failed transactions.
Whether it makes sense to try again depends on the failure reason, whether the sale is still open, whether you used the correct contract, and the presale’s rules. The transaction status alone cannot answer those questions. Do not retry until you have checked the details and confirmed that another payment is appropriate.

If it is confirmed but tokens or a refund are missing
Do not try to cancel a confirmed transaction. Save the hash and contact the project only through contact details published on independently verified official channels. A confirmed payment does not, by itself, show whether the contract delivered an entitlement, whether tokens can be claimed later, or whether the project permits a refund. Those answers depend on the specific presale contract and sale terms; a wallet cannot reverse the payment through its pending-transaction controls.

Contact the exchange or crypto ATM operator you used as soon as possible, report the transaction, and ask whether any reversal is possible. The FTC says cryptocurrency payments typically lack the same legal protections as debit- and credit-card payments and can be difficult to recover. You can also report suspected fraud to the FTC.

Be wary of anyone who contacts you unexpectedly and promises guaranteed recovery. The FTC warns that recovery scammers may target people who have already lost money and demand an upfront retainer or processing fee, or ask for financial information. Do not pay them or share sensitive details. Never give anyone your wallet seed phrase or private keys, or allow remote access to your device. See the FTC’s guidance on refund and recovery scams.
