Jensen Huang reaffirmed his view that AI infrastructure spending could reach $3 trillion to $4 trillion by 2030. That figure describes spending across the AI infrastructure market—not Nvidia’s revenue or a guaranteed outcome. At a September 10, 2026, Goldman Sachs conference, Nvidia’s CEO joked, “I just think we should just take a pause and acknowledge that I was right.”

What did Huang reaffirm?

At the September 10, 2026, Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, analyst James Schneider brought up Huang’s earlier projection that AI infrastructure spending could total $3 trillion to $4 trillion by 2030. Huang responded with the remark, “I just think we should just take a pause and acknowledge that I was right.” The exchange reaffirmed Huang’s outlook; it did not turn the projection into a commitment or independently verified market forecast. Why does Huang expect infrastructure demand to grow?

Huang’s explanation is that computing is shifting from retrieving stored information toward generating answers. A prompt and its context must be processed to produce a response, and serving that activity continuously takes computing capacity. He calls the systems built for this work “AI factories.” This is his rationale for the outlook, not independent evidence that the market will reach the stated size.

What do Nvidia’s per-gigawatt estimates mean?

On Nvidia’s August 26, 2026, Q2 FY2027 earnings call, Huang gave approximate estimates for Nvidia content associated with one gigawatt of computing capacity across successive platform generations:

Platform generation Approximate Nvidia content per gigawatt
Hopper $18 billion
Grace Blackwell $25 billion
Vera Rubin $40 billion

These are Nvidia’s estimates of its own content, as described by Huang. They are not the total cost to build or operate a data center, nor independent market-wide estimates. They help illustrate how much Nvidia says its products could contribute to infrastructure deployments; they do not by themselves establish total industry spending by 2030. Who might buy the infrastructure?

Nvidia describes demand from hyperscalers as well as enterprise customers, neocloud providers, and sovereign-AI buyers. Huang has emphasized the importance of customers beyond the largest cloud companies, but the cited company commentary does not provide independently validated spending shares for these groups. Nvidia’s November 2025 and May 2026 earnings-call discussions also point to generative AI and agentic AI as demand drivers and note that customers decide how to finance investments. That does not establish that the projected spending is already budgeted, cash-funded, or committed. Nvidia earnings-call materials

Is the $3 trillion to $4 trillion figure Nvidia revenue?

No. Huang’s figure concerns AI infrastructure spending across the market. Nvidia revenue is a separate measure: it is the portion of spending that could become Nvidia’s sales, influenced by product mix, competition, customer purchasing, and other factors.

An October 4, 2026, Motley Fool article suggested Nvidia could exceed $1 trillion in revenue by 2030 if it maintained an assumed share of the spending opportunity, alongside separate analyst revenue estimates. That is the article author’s conditional extrapolation—not Huang’s forecast and not a confirmed Nvidia target. Its investment recommendation is opinion, not a factual conclusion or individualized financial advice. The Motley Fool’s October 4, 2026, article

How should investors interpret the projection?

Treat $3 trillion to $4 trillion as a management outlook about a possible scale of industry investment, not as a promise of Nvidia sales or an assured market outcome. The cited sources do not independently validate that spending will reach the range, establish how it would be distributed among buyers, or show that customers have committed the necessary funds.
