If you see a harmful or misleading answer in Grok, use the feedback or reporting controls on that response. The exact options depend on where you use Grok and what the answer contains: X documents a direct report flow for illegal or restricted Grok content in Australia, while its general guidance does not establish one universal report category for ordinary inaccuracies worldwide. If the answer was also published as an X post, report that post separately.
Choose the right reporting route
| Where the content appears | What to do | What X says about the action |
|---|---|---|
| Inside a Grok conversation | Use the response’s available feedback or reporting control. For illegal or restricted content on Grok on X in Australia, select thumbs down and choose the most applicable reporting category. | X describes thumbs-up and thumbs-down as voluntary conversation feedback generally. Its specific direct-report instructions apply to illegal or restricted content in Australia; they do not establish a universal formal-report process for every misleading answer or region. |
| As a public X post | Open the post’s options menu, select “Report post,” and follow the prompts. | This flags the post for review. Reporting does not automatically suspend the account, and a report is not a guarantee of removal. |
X’s [About Grok help page](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/about-grok) warns that Grok may confidently provide factually incorrect information, missummarize, or miss context. For consequential claims, verify them independently rather than treating a negative rating as a correction or an enforcement request.
Report an answer in a Grok conversation
If you are using Grok on X in Australia
- Find the generated response containing illegal or restricted content.
- Select the thumbs-down control on that response.
- Choose the most applicable reporting category shown by the interface.
These steps come from X’s [Australia Online Safety Information](https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/australia-online-safety), which says users can report illegal or restricted content directly from a generated Grok response. The cited guidance does not establish that the same menu or categories are available in other regions, for ordinary factual errors, or in every standalone Grok experience.
For other harmful or misleading answers
Use whatever feedback or report options are actually shown on the answer, and select a category only when it accurately describes the issue. X’s general Grok page presents thumbs-up and thumbs-down as voluntary feedback; it does not say every thumbs-down is a formal policy report or specify a universal category for ordinary misinformation. If the interface offers no suitable reporting option, the reviewed X guidance does not provide a broader button sequence to substitute.

Report a public X post separately
If the Grok answer also appears in a public post and you believe that post violates X’s rules, report the post itself. On X, open the post’s options icon, choose “Report post,” then follow the prompts. This process is described in X’s [report a post guidance](https://help.x.com/en/safety-and-security/report-a-post).
A response-level rating and a post report address different things: the first is feedback or a response-level report where available; the second flags a specific public post. X says a report does not automatically suspend the account. Its [Report violations page](https://help.x.com/en/safety-and-security/report-a-violation) says properly submitted reports are acknowledged within 24 hours, are typically resolved within a few days, and can take up to 30 days in some cases. These are X’s stated operational timeframes, not guaranteed deadlines.

Protect your privacy when sending feedback
Before submitting a thumbs-down, consider what the conversation contains. X says feedback and related conversation data may be used by X and xAI to train and fine-tune Grok, even if you have opted out of model training. X also advises against entering personal, sensitive, or confidential information into Grok conversations.
X says Grok personalization can be controlled in X settings and conversation history can be deleted. Deleted conversations are removed from its systems within 30 days, except where retention is required for security or legal reasons. See X’s [About Grok page](https://help.x.com/en/using-x/about-grok) for its current privacy and data controls.
