You can no longer file a claim in the AT&T data incident settlement. The deadline was December 18, 2025, and the settlement website says claim forms are no longer available. The court held its final approval hearing on January 15, 2026, but had not yet decided whether to approve the settlement according to the latest status posted on the official site. The advertised “up to $7,500” was not a guaranteed payment: it combined separate documented-loss caps for qualifying claims tied to two incidents.

Can you still file an AT&T settlement claim?

No. The court-authorized settlement site lists December 18, 2025, as the claim deadline and says claim forms are no longer available. The opt-out and objection deadlines were November 17, 2025. The reviewed official materials provide no late-claim route.

If you already submitted a claim, the administrator says it continues reviewing claims. For questions about whether you were included, contact Kroll Settlement Administration at (833) 890-4930. The court-authorized site identifies itself as the case’s only authorized website: telecomdatasettlement.com. Use that site or the official documents page for updates, and verify any unexpected request for fees or sensitive information rather than responding to it.

What the $177 million settlement covers

The proposed settlement combines lawsuits over two different AT&T data incidents announced in 2024. The settlement resolves the actions without an admission of liability or wrongdoing, according to the official settlement overview.

Settlement track Incident and covered information Who could qualify Documented-loss benefit Alternative cash benefit
AT&T 1 Announced March 30, 2024. A data set released on the dark web included AT&T-specific fields. Depending on the person, covered elements could include name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, account passcode, billing account number or Social Security number. Living people in the United States whose covered data elements were included in the incident. Up to $5,000 for eligible losses incurred in 2019 or later that were fairly traceable to the incident and supported by reasonable documentation. Pro-rata Tier 1 or Tier 2 cash, depending on whether an SSN was included. Tier 1 was five times Tier 2; the official FAQ states no fixed dollar amount.
AT&T 2 Announced July 12, 2024. Certain limited data was illegally downloaded from an AT&T workspace on a third-party cloud platform hosted by Snowflake. Covered information could include phone numbers and call/text interaction metadata, such as numbers contacted, interaction counts, aggregate call durations and, for a small subset, cell-site identifiers. The settlement description concerns metadata, not the contents of calls or texts. AT&T account owners or line/end users whose covered data elements were involved. The official FAQ says some customers of mobile virtual network operators using AT&T’s network may qualify as line/end users. Up to $2,500 for eligible losses incurred on or after April 14, 2024, fairly traceable to the incident and supported by reasonable documentation. Pro-rata cash was available as an alternative to documented losses for account owners.

Associated Press reported the proposed combined fund as $177 million, with contemporaneous allocations of $149 million for the first settlement class and $28 million for the second. Those are fund amounts, not promised individual payments. The parties agreed in March 2025 to settle both actions together in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Is the “up to $7,500” payment guaranteed?

No. The $7,500 figure is the arithmetic sum of the separate maximum documented-loss amounts—up to $5,000 for AT&T 1 and up to $2,500 for AT&T 2. It applied only to a person who qualified for both tracks and had distinct, eligible losses with supporting documentation for each. The same supporting information could not be used twice.

Both documented-loss benefits were capped amounts, not automatic payments. The cash-tier alternatives were pro rata, meaning payments depended on valid claims and deductions from the available fund. The official FAQ does not state a fixed tier payment, and the reviewed materials do not establish a guaranteed per-person amount or current count of valid claims.

What documentation rules applied to claims?

These rules applied to claims submitted before the deadline; they do not reopen the claim process. A claimant seeking documented losses had to attest under penalty of perjury that the losses were incurred and provide reasonable records. Receipts or other records not prepared by the claimant could document costs. A claimant’s own records could clarify or support other documentation, but were insufficient on their own.

When will the AT&T settlement pay out?

There is no distribution date in the official materials. The final approval hearing took place January 15, 2026, and the court was still considering approval in the latest status posted by the settlement administrator. Distributions can begin only after court approval, expiration of the time for any appeals, and review of all claim forms. The administrator says claim review is ongoing.

For context, AT&T told the Associated Press it agreed to the settlement “to avoid the expense and uncertainty of protracted litigation,” and said it remained “committed to protecting our customers’ data and ensuring their continued trust in us.” The settlement itself resolves the actions without an admission of liability or wrongdoing.

Check the official documents and dates and the settlement FAQ for status changes. Associated Press coverage of the proposed fund and AT&T’s statement is available at AP News.
