Louisiana’s lawsuit accuses Roblox Corporation of failing to protect children and misleading families about safety. In a response dated August 15, 2025, Roblox said it does not comment on pending litigation, denied intentionally putting users at risk, and described safety measures it says it has added. The allegations and the company’s account are positions by the parties—not court findings or independent verification.

What Louisiana alleges

Attorney General Liz Murrill announced the State’s action on August 15, 2025. Filed in the 21st Judicial District Court for Livingston Parish, the complaint alleges that Roblox facilitated the distribution of child sexual abuse material and sexual exploitation, failed to implement basic protections, and did not adequately warn parents and children about risks. The State invokes Louisiana’s Unfair Trade Practices Act and contends that Roblox made misleading safety representations. These are allegations in the State’s filing, not established facts.

The complaint describes a Livingston Parish search warrant executed in July 2025. According to the State’s account, the suspect was using Roblox and voice-altering technology allegedly used to lure minors. The example is part of the State’s filing; it does not establish that Roblox caused the alleged conduct. [Louisiana Attorney General’s August 15, 2025 announcement]

Murrill characterized the State’s position this way: “Due to Roblox’s lack of safety protocols, it endangers the safety of the children of Louisiana.” That is her statement about the allegations, not a court’s conclusion.

What Roblox said in response

Roblox’s August 15, 2025 statement says the company does not comment on pending litigation and disputes that it intentionally endangered users. It argues that no system is perfect and that bad actors adapt to evade detection, including by trying to move users to other platforms. Roblox says it continues to improve moderation and block those efforts. These are the company’s positions and descriptions of its own practices. [Roblox’s August 15, 2025 response]

Roblox said it had introduced more than 40 safety features in the preceding year. Its statement describes parental controls, default protections for users under 13, content-maturity labels, age estimation, reports to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC), and collaboration with law enforcement and child-safety organizations. The company’s statement does not independently verify how effective those measures are.

What each side is asking the court to accept

Issue Louisiana’s position Roblox’s response
Child safety The complaint alleges failures in protections and warnings, and says Roblox enabled child exploitation. The company disputes intentionally putting users at risk and describes safety controls it says it has added.
Safety representations The State alleges Roblox misled families about the adequacy of its safety features. Roblox points to measures it says are in place; the response does not establish how a court will assess the State’s claims.
Status of statements Allegations and requested relief in a court filing. The company’s public position and self-reported practices.

What the State wants

Louisiana asks for a permanent injunction restricting alleged violations and representations that Roblox has adequate safety features. The complaint also seeks restitution, attorney fees, civil penalties, and damages. These are remedies requested by the State; the filing is not an order granting them or an award of money. How to read Roblox’s NCMEC figure

Roblox reported that it submitted 24,522 reports to NCMEC in 2024, equal to 0.12% of the 20.3 million total reports it said NCMEC received that year. This is a company-reported comparison of report counts. By itself, it does not show how safe Roblox is, whether reports were substantiated, or whether Louisiana’s allegations are true. Has the court ruled?

The available sources do not establish the case’s current docket status, whether the court has ruled, or whether the parties have settled. A Louisiana Attorney General release dated August 26, 2026 refers to the Roblox matter as a lawsuit but gives no case-specific disposition. It therefore does not answer whether a ruling or settlement occurred. [Louisiana Attorney General’s August 26, 2026 release]
