Haliey Welch said she was taking the HAWK coin collapse seriously, would cooperate with the legal team representing affected people, and wanted to help uncover the truth and hold responsible parties accountable. She posted the statement on X on December 20, 2024, after nearly two weeks without a public post and one day after investors filed their initial complaint.

In her December 20, 2024, X statement, Welch wrote: “I take this situation extremely seriously and want to address my fans, the investors who have been affected and the broader community. I am fully cooperating with and am committed to assisting the legal team representing the individuals impacted, as well as to help uncover the truth, hold the responsible parties accountable and resolve this matter.” The Block reported that she directed people who had experienced financial loss to Burwick Law.
Why did she release a statement?
The post followed the sharp decline in HAWK, a cryptocurrency launched on Solana on December 4, 2024, and the first investor complaint filed on December 19. The Independent reported that HAWK’s market capitalization reached $490 million before falling 95 percent within minutes. Cointelegraph gave a different, rounded account: a peak of roughly $500 million followed by a 90 percent decline. These are figures reported by those outlets, not a single settled measurement.
The December 19 complaint, filed in the Eastern District of New York, alleged violations of securities laws, including that HAWK was an unregistered security. Those claims are allegations in a pleading, not a court finding. The Independent reported that Welch was not named in that initial complaint.

What happened in the case afterward?
Burwick Law, counsel for plaintiffs, reported on March 30, 2026, that an amended complaint remained pending in the Eastern District of New York under case number 1:24-cv-08650-AMD-JRC and listed Welch among the defendants. That later procedural update comes from plaintiffs’ counsel; it does not establish that the allegations have been proven. The available reporting does not establish a later docket entry or case outcome.
