RRB NTPC CEN 05/2024 was a recruitment notice for graduate-level posts, initially advertising 8,113 vacancies across participating Railway Recruitment Boards. Applications opened on 14 September 2024 and closed on 13 October 2024 at 23:59; the application window is over. Later selection notices have continued, so applicants should check the official website of the RRB they selected for relevant updates.
What CEN 05/2024 covered
The Railway Recruitment Boards issued Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 05/2024 for graduate-level Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) posts. The indicative notice was dated 13 September 2024 and announced an initial all-RRB total of 8,113 vacancies. That figure is the notice’s original total, not a confirmed final count after subsequent vacancy revisions.
This was separate from CEN 06/2024, the undergraduate NTPC recruitment, which had different posts, eligibility and dates. Do not apply CEN 06/2024’s vacancy count or application period to the graduate notice. RRB Chandigarh’s official website is one board’s site; recruitment updates are published through participating RRBs, so candidates should follow the board relevant to their application.
Posts and initial vacancy distribution

The indicative notice’s original total comprised 2,730 Level 6 vacancies and 5,383 Level 5 vacancies. RRB listings later included vacancy revisions and corrigenda; the available notices do not establish one consolidated final total across all RRBs after every amendment. Consult the applicable revised notice for a board- or post-specific count.
Eligibility stated in the detailed notice
The baseline educational requirement for the graduate posts was a university degree or equivalent. For this recruitment cycle, the age range was 18–36 years as of 1 January 2025. The upper limit reflected a one-time additional three-year relaxation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Category-based relaxations, post-specific conditions and all other eligibility rules are governed by the detailed CEN; these summary points do not replace it.

Application dates and what to do now
Applications were accepted online from 14 September through 13 October 2024 at 23:59. The application period has ended, and the old application window is not an opportunity to submit a late application. The detailed CEN directed each candidate to apply to one selected RRB for that board’s notified posts under this notice. It also advised candidates to keep their registered personal mobile number and email address active for recruitment communications.

Later selection updates depend on the RRB
Notices published after the application period show that CEN 05/2024 continued through later selection stages. For example, an RRB Kolkata listing includes CBT-II e-call-letter information and CBTST scheduling or rescheduling notices through January 2026. An RRB Secunderabad listing reports a consolidated list dated 2 June 2026 for candidates shortlisted for document verification and medical examination. These examples do not mean all boards or candidates were at the same stage.
For dates, results, call letters and instructions that apply to a particular candidate, check the official notice page of the RRB selected in the application. A notice from another RRB is not a substitute for the candidate’s own board’s instructions.

Use official RRB websites
The detailed CEN warns candidates to visit only official RRB websites and to be cautious of fake websites and job racketeers. Do not enter personal details, pay a fee or rely on a result or call-letter link unless it is published through an official RRB channel. The notice’s warning is explicit: “Candidates are advised to visit only official websites of the RRBs as indicated at Para D 20.0 of this CEN and be very careful about fake websites and job racketeers.”
