It can translate text assets and keywords, help adapt images with text overlays, and provide options for handling landing-page content. You review and can edit the generated assets before publishing; the localized campaign is paused by default. Budgets and bids are copied as-is, with no currency conversion, so the tool does not set a suitable budget for the new market.
What the localization beta does
The feature creates a new, independent Search campaign; it does not change the original. Google documents localization for headlines, descriptions, sitelinks, callouts, and keywords. For images containing text, the tool can remove the existing text and supply translated messaging as supplemental text assets.
Google also describes two approaches for landing pages: use a Google-provided JavaScript snippet to dynamically translate site content after an ad click, or update URLs manually, including through bulk find-and-replace. The page gives URL instructions that depend on the translation path, so follow the current in-account prompts carefully rather than assuming every URL should be changed or left unchanged. Who can use it, and which languages are supported?
Google’s help page describes the beta for Search campaigns with English (US) as the source language. Its currently listed target languages are:

- Dutch
- French and French (Canada)

- Italian
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil) and Portuguese (Portugal/European)
- Spanish (Castilian/Spain) and Spanish (Latin American and Caribbean)
Google says additional target languages are expected by the end of 2026. That is a forward-looking statement, not confirmation that unlisted languages are already available. The page also said Performance Max support was planned to begin in September 2026; advertisers should check their current account interface rather than assume that support is available to them.
The original campaign must be active or paused, within entity-size limits, and have all assets and keywords in a supported source language. Removed, draft, experimental, and shadow campaigns are not supported. Election-verified customers are ineligible. Check the current eligibility and language list in Google’s beta documentation, since availability can change.

How to create and review a localized campaign
- Choose an eligible English (US) Search campaign that is active or paused and meets Google’s entity-size requirements.
- Start the AI campaign localization workflow in Google Ads and select the destination language and location offered for your account.
- Choose a landing-page approach: dynamic translation using Google’s JavaScript snippet, or manual URL updates. Apply the URL instructions shown for that chosen path.
- Review the generated-asset table. It shows the original asset, translated asset, a back-translation into English, and translation notes. Edit translated text inline where needed.
- Check the destination, messaging, links, and copied financial settings. Publish when ready; the default is to publish the new campaign paused so you can complete final checks before activation.
A back-translation helps you assess whether the apparent meaning and intent carried through. It does not establish that wording is culturally appropriate, locally persuasive, or compliant with local advertising rules. Have a fluent reviewer familiar with the target market check important claims, brand names, tone, and any regulated or sensitive language before launch.
Check budgets and bids before launch
The beta copies budgets and bids exactly from the original campaign and does not convert currencies or calculate exchange rates. Google’s example is that a £100 budget remains £100 in the localized campaign. Treat the copied settings as values to review, not as a market-adjusted recommendation. Confirm the campaign’s budget, bidding assumptions, and account currency are appropriate for the intended market before unpausing it.

Localization is separate from language and location targeting
Localization creates campaign content for another language and location; targeting settings determine where ads may appear and which audiences may be reached. Google says location settings define geographic areas where ads may appear, while language settings help reach people who speak selected languages. It also notes that multilingual users may receive an ad in a different language from their query if Google is confident they understand that ad language. See Google Ads’ location and language settings guidance.
There is also a separate scheduled targeting change: in an August 13, 2026 post, Google Ads’ Developer Blog said campaign-level language targeting would be removed for Search and AI Max for Search in late September 2026. The post said Performance Max would continue campaign-level language targeting on non-Search channels, while Search would match based on ad language. These targeting changes are not the localization beta, and they do not mean the beta automatically configures every account or market. Check the current interface and Google’s dated announcement when setting up a campaign.

What the beta does not establish
Google’s feature documentation explains the workflow and its supported options, but does not provide comparative performance, translation-quality, or cost data against manual localization or professional localization providers. It also does not show that using the feature will improve results in a new market. Treat it as a workflow aid: the advertiser remains responsible for market selection, budget decisions, landing-page suitability, and final review.
