Stellar’s DeFi total value locked (TVL) was reported at nearly $273 million on October 2, 2026, in a U.Today report citing DeFiLlama. That is a dated reported peak, not a current reading: a later observation of DeFiLlama’s Stellar dashboard showed $264.35 million.
What the $273 million milestone means
TVL is the aggregate value of assets locked in DeFi protocols tracked on Stellar. DeFiLlama’s nearly $273 million figure, as reported by U.Today for October 2, 2026, was described as a record and was about a week after a reading around $265 million. Because the figure reflects asset values at a particular time, it can move as assets enter or leave protocols and as the prices of counted assets change.
Do not read TVL as the value of every asset issued on Stellar, stablecoin market capitalization, daily trading volume, or the value of active real-world assets (RWA). Those are different measures and should not be added together or substituted for one another.
How the reported peak differs from the later dashboard snapshot
When DeFiLlama’s Stellar dashboard was accessed for the later snapshot, it displayed $264.35 million in TVL—not nearly $273 million. The two amounts describe separate observations; the lower dashboard reading does not invalidate the earlier reported peak, nor should the peak be presented as the dashboard’s current value.
#1 Best Overall
| Measure | Value | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| TVL | Nearly $273 million, reported for October 2, 2026 by U.Today citing DeFiLlama | Reported peak observation |
| TVL | $264.35 million, DeFiLlama dashboard snapshot at later access time | Separate later observation |
| Stablecoin market capitalization | $934.54 million, DeFiLlama dashboard snapshot at later access time | Market capitalization of tracked stablecoins, not TVL |
| Active RWA AUM | $2.817 billion, DeFiLlama dashboard snapshot at later access time | Active assets under management associated with real-world assets, not TVL |
| DEX volume | $3.38 million over 24 hours, DeFiLlama dashboard snapshot at later access time | Trading activity over the stated period |
| Active addresses | 94,972 over 24 hours, DeFiLlama dashboard snapshot at later access time | Address activity over the stated period |
These dashboard figures are volatile observations, not timeless statistics. U.Today also cited the stablecoin, RWA, DEX-volume, and active-address figures in connection with its October 2 report; the dashboard snapshot values above are later observations and should not be treated as measurements taken at the reported peak.
Which protocols accounted for the later TVL snapshot?
DeFiLlama’s protocol-ranking snapshot at the later access time listed these largest Stellar entries:
Rank #2
- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
| Protocol entry | TVL in later snapshot |
|---|---|
| Blend | $162.22 million |
| Stellar DeFi Hub | $57.31 million |
| Aquarius | $39.44 million |
These are snapshot values, not a breakdown of the October 2 peak. They describe the ranking shown when the dashboard was accessed and should not be backdated.
What is developing in Stellar’s DeFi ecosystem?
Stellar’s official materials describe its smart-contract platform as Stellar Smart Contracts, formerly Soroban. The developer environment is based on Rust and WebAssembly and includes SDKs, command-line tools, an RPC server, and a local sandbox. Its ecosystem materials identify components developers can connect, including protocols, wallets, bridges, oracles, tokenization tools, and RPC providers.

Stellar’s ecosystem article names Blend as a lending protocol, Aquarius as a DEX and liquidity venue, Sushi’s Stellar deployment, tokenized real-world assets associated with Centrifuge, Utila’s multichain MPC wallet with Soroban support, and a yield.xyz integration. The article cited DeFiLlama figures showing Blend above $80 million TVL early in 2026 and Aquarius above $40 million in January–February 2026. Those are earlier historical figures, distinct from the later dashboard snapshot and the reported October peak. The available evidence does not show that any one integration caused the TVL increase.

A headline number alone does not establish that one chain is larger or more active than another. For a useful comparison, align the measurement time and data provider, check which protocols and assets each TVL calculation includes, and account for exposure to market-price changes. Compare activity measures such as trading volume or active addresses separately rather than treating them as substitutes for TVL. The figures available here do not provide a like-for-like cross-chain comparison.
