October’s clearest scheduled crypto milestone is Ethereum’s Glamsterdam activation on the Sepolia testnet on October 6—not an Ethereum mainnet upgrade. Bitcoin’s near-term picture is being discussed in terms of ETF flows and macro conditions, while possible XRP Ledger upgrades remain tentative in the available reporting. None of these developments establishes where BTC, ETH or XRP prices will go this month.
As of October 3, 2026. The useful way to read this month’s crypto calendar is to separate a scheduled technical event from market indicators and unconfirmed upgrade timing. The Ethereum date is precise but applies only to a test network. Bitcoin’s cited fund-flow figure is a past weekly snapshot, and XRP’s reported October upgrade dates are conditional.
October’s main watch items at a glance
| Asset | October watch item | Timing confidence | What it does—and does not—tell you |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin (BTC) | Reported spot Bitcoin ETF flows and macro conditions | Market commentary, not a scheduled event or forward signal | Useful context for demand and market conditions; not a price forecast. |
| Ethereum (ETH) | Glamsterdam activation on Sepolia | Scheduled for October 6, 2026, at 13:53:36 UTC; Hoodi and mainnet dates are undecided | A testnet protocol milestone, not a mainnet launch or a promise of price appreciation. |
| XRP | Possible Batch and permission-delegation changes to the XRP Ledger | Reported as possible; primary confirmation of activation timing was not established | Track for a confirmed XRPL notice rather than treating reported dates as settled. |
Bitcoin: ETF flows and macro conditions are indicators, not a calendar
Late-September market commentary identified demand for US spot Bitcoin ETFs and broader macroeconomic conditions as factors to watch. Crypto.com reported about $2.4 billion in US spot Bitcoin ETF inflows for the week ending September 25, 2026. That figure is the publication’s reported total for that week; it is not an October flow total, and it was not independently checked against the underlying flow dataset here. U.Today’s October 3 overview likewise discussed ETF demand and liquidity as market watch items.
These reports describe recent conditions, not a dependable direction for BTC. ETF flows can change, and the cited week does not establish how funds will move in October. Nor does the available evidence provide a substantiated October price target. Treat any flow number as a dated observation, not a forecast or a reason by itself to assume a rally.

Ethereum: what the October 6 Glamsterdam milestone means
The date is for Sepolia only
The Ethereum Foundation’s September 28 announcement schedules Glamsterdam for the Sepolia testnet at epoch 353,024, slot 11,296,768, corresponding to October 6, 2026, at 13:53:36 UTC. The announcement does not set dates for Hoodi or Ethereum mainnet: “Hoodi and mainnet activation times will be announced once decided by client teams.” A testnet activation lets participants exercise the upgrade in a testing environment; it does not mean the same changes are live for mainnet users.
What the upgrade is intended to change
The announced components include enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and gas-accounting changes. In broad terms, these are protocol-level changes intended to improve how block production and execution are handled and to support Layer 1 scaling. They are engineering milestones, not evidence that ETH’s market price must rise.

Who needs to act
The Foundation says ordinary Ethereum mainnet users do not need to take action for this Sepolia announcement. Operators of Sepolia nodes and validators do need compatible execution and consensus clients to participate in the testnet upgrade. Anyone responsible for such infrastructure should follow the Foundation’s current announcement and client guidance, since protocol specifications and implementation details can evolve.
XRP: treat October upgrade dates as tentative
Late-September secondary coverage described the XRP Ledger’s Batch V1.1 upgrade as delayed into October pending validator support, and said permission-delegation could arrive as early as October 8. Those are reported expectations, not confirmed activation dates. The available primary XRPL material did not establish either change’s October activation.

For a calendar or portfolio decision, distinguish a reported possibility from a network-confirmed schedule. Look for an XRPL status notice or other primary network communication before treating either date as firm. Until then, October 8 is not a confirmed XRP Ledger deadline.

The SEC Crypto Newsroom lists an August 18, 2026 proposed “Regulation Crypto Assets” release and custody-rule proposal announcements dated October 1. These entries show active rulemaking, but a proposal or comment process is not a final rule and does not, by itself, settle the legal treatment of crypto assets. Read the status of each item as proposed unless the SEC announces a later action.

How to use this calendar without turning it into a price prediction
- Check dates and scope: Ethereum’s October 6 timestamp is for Sepolia, not mainnet.
- Date market figures: the reported $2.4 billion ETF inflow figure covers the week ending September 25, not October as a whole.
- Verify conditional milestones: wait for primary XRPL confirmation before treating reported upgrade timing as scheduled.
- Separate developments from returns: a protocol upgrade, fund-flow report or regulatory proposal can be relevant without dictating a token’s price.
