Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance are among six Samsung affiliates investing a combined US$1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, an AI infrastructure company established by KKR. Samsung has not disclosed how much either insurer will contribute individually.
How much are the Samsung affiliates investing?
Samsung announced the investment on 29 September 2026. Samsung Electronics will invest US$500 million, while the other five participating affiliates together will invest the remaining US$500 million. The official announcement names Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance among those five, but does not itemize their individual commitments. Samsung Newsroom India’s announcement and Yonhap’s report both identify the insurers as participants.

What is Helix, and what is Samsung investing in?
Helix Digital Infrastructure is an AI infrastructure business established by KKR and launched in June 2026, according to Samsung. Its stated scope covers hyperscale data-center development and operations, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber-optic networks. Samsung describes Helix as an AI-enabling infrastructure provider intended to offer solutions across that value chain.
Yonhap reports that Helix launched with KKR, Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA and Vistra as backers. It describes NVIDIA as a strategic partner and Vistra as Helix’s preferred power partner. Samsung’s investment is in the infrastructure company; the announcement does not describe an insurance product or a consumer offering.
