For U.S. cardholders, the stated Q4 2026 earning window is October 1 through December 31. Frequent Miler reported that activation options are live for Chase Freedom/Freedom Flex, Discover it, Citi Dividend and U.S. Bank Cash+. Chase’s official Freedom Flex page still showed its Q4 calendar as “Coming Soon” on October 3, however, so confirm the categories and activation status in your issuer account before spending to earn a bonus.

Q4 2026 category and cap comparison

The table below reflects categories and activation routes reported by Frequent Miler on October 1, 2026. Apart from the general Freedom Flex terms noted below, these details were not independently confirmed on issuer pages in the sources available for this guide.

Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex Dining; grocery stores, excluding Walmart and Target; American Red Cross 5% on up to $1,500 in combined quarterly category purchases ChaseBonus.com
Discover it Restaurants, entertainment and utilities 5% on up to $1,500 in purchases Discover for accounts still managed there; migrated accounts use the Capital One app or site

U.S. Bank Cash+ Choose two: home utilities; electronics stores; sporting goods stores; ground transportation; TV, internet and streaming; department stores; select clothing stores; gyms/fitness centers; furniture stores; cell phones; fast food; movie theaters 5% on the first $2,000 in combined net purchases in selected categories U.S. Bank activation page

How to activate each card

Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex

Use the activation link at ChaseBonus.com and follow the account prompts. Chase’s official Freedom Flex terms say cardholders must activate each quarter to receive the quarterly 5% bonus. The official terms confirm a $1,500 combined quarterly category-purchase cap, but as of October 3 the official calendar had not yet displayed Q4 categories. The categories in the comparison table are those reported by Frequent Miler, not a Q4 list confirmed on Chase’s page.

Chase also says the merchant must submit a qualifying charge by the last day of the quarter. That is not a guarantee for an order placed on December 31: online orders may be charged when they ship, so leave time for processing.

Discover it

If Discover still manages your account, use its activation route and check the card’s 5% calendar. If your account has migrated to Capital One, sign in, select the Discover it card, then choose Rewards & Benefits > View Rewards to find the calendar and activation option. Check the categories shown for your own card before relying on the reported restaurant, entertainment and utilities list.

Citi Dividend

Open the Citi activation route at Citi and follow the prompts for your Dividend account. The reported $6,000 cap is annual, not a per-quarter allowance.

U.S. Bank Cash+

Check your account before relying on the Q4 list

  • Verify the categories and activation status. The Q4 list is reported by Frequent Miler, while Chase’s official Freedom Flex calendar still said “Coming Soon” on October 3, 2026. Account displays can help confirm the offer attached to your card.
  • Keep the cap period straight. Chase and Discover are reported with quarterly caps; Citi Dividend’s stated cap is annual. U.S. Bank’s reported limit applies to combined net purchases in the two selected categories.
  • Allow for transaction timing. For Chase, the official terms require merchant submission by quarter-end. An order placed near December 31 may not qualify if the charge is submitted later.
  • Check merchant eligibility. The reported Chase grocery category excludes Walmart and Target. For other cards, use the issuer’s displayed category terms, especially where merchant classification may affect whether a purchase counts.
