Formerly known as Vena Security, the company sells enterprise cybersecurity software intended to help organizations assess and improve the effectiveness of security tools they already own—not replace them.
What is Nagomi Security?
Nagomi Security is a cybersecurity software company whose Proactive Defense Platform connects an organization’s security controls with threats observed in the real world. It aims to show security teams where their defenses may be weak and what steps they can take to address those gaps using their existing tools.
The company describes its mission as helping security teams “optimize, measure, and maximize the impact and ROI of their security investments.” Its premise is that controls can become less effective as attack methods, product features, and business priorities change.
What does the Proactive Defense Platform do?
The platform maps an organization’s security tools to real, seen-in-the-wild threats, prioritizes risks in light of that customer’s threat profile, and recommends remediation plans. In practical terms, it is designed to help a security team answer three questions: where a control it expected to work has degraded, where the organization is exposed, and what to do about it with the tools already deployed.

SecurityWeek reported that Nagomi uses read-only API connections and integrates with products from CrowdStrike, Microsoft, SentinelOne, Okta, Qualys, Rapid7, and Google. The read-only model is intended to let the platform assess existing defenses without replacing the underlying security products.
How much funding did Nagomi raise, and who invested?
SecurityWeek reported that Nagomi announced $30 million in funding when it came out of stealth in April 2024. TCV led the round, with participation from CrowdStrike Falcon Fund, Okta Ventures, and angel investors. Team8 had provided seed funding earlier. Nagomi’s own announcement also identified Team8, TCV, CrowdStrike, and Okta among its investors or partners.
The funding announcement also included a reported business milestone: SecurityWeek said Nagomi had more than $1 million in annual recurring revenue while still in stealth. That is a company claim reported in 2024, not an independently audited measure of revenue or proof of product performance.
What was Nagomi Security called before it emerged from stealth?
The company was previously called Vena Security. It adopted the Nagomi Security name before its April 24, 2024 stealth launch announcement.

Does Nagomi replace existing security tools?
No. Its stated purpose is to evaluate and help optimize an organization’s existing security stack. The platform connects to tools through read-only APIs, maps them against relevant threats, and recommends ways to close coverage gaps. The value proposition is better visibility into whether current investments are doing their intended job, rather than replacing those investments with a new suite of controls.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What does the funding announcement establish—and what does it not?
The $30 million round establishes that investors backed Nagomi’s effort to measure security-stack effectiveness; it does not, by itself, demonstrate that the platform improves security outcomes or delivers a particular return on investment. Those results would depend on an organization’s environment, the integrations it uses, the accuracy and usefulness of the platform’s prioritized recommendations, and whether teams implement them.

SecurityWeek quoted co-founder and CEO Emanuel Salmona saying that “over 80% of breaches occur at organizations that already had a tool in place to prevent it.” This is Salmona’s company-attributed claim as reported in 2024, not an independently verified industry-wide statistic. It supports Nagomi’s rationale for checking whether deployed controls remain effective, but should not be read as evidence that Nagomi itself prevents breaches.
Statements praising the platform from Team8, TCV, CrowdStrike, and Okta representatives in Nagomi’s announcement came from investors or partners. They describe those parties’ views, rather than independent evaluations of product performance.
