It also supports product design and production, provides logistics and integration services, and helps IT resellers and managed service providers sell and manage cloud offerings. Its business is organized into two segments: Global Components and Global ECS.
What Arrow Electronics does
Arrow is primarily a business-to-business distributor, integrator and channel enabler—not the manufacturer of every product it sells. It connects technology suppliers with businesses that design, build, deploy or resell technology. Its role can span component selection and prototyping, production supply, fulfillment and customer support.
Arrow describes its strategy as being “the premier, technology-centric, go-to-market and supply chain services company” in its 2024 Form 10-K. The phrase reflects a wider role than catalog sales: Arrow combines distribution with engineering, integration, logistics, training, marketing resources and support.
How large Arrow is, and what it sells
Arrow reported $30.853 billion in consolidated sales for 2025, including $21.501 billion from Global Components, according to its 2025 reporting. Dividing those reported figures, Global Components represented about 69.7% of sales; the remaining $9.352 billion, or about 30.3%, was Global ECS. These calculated shares do not match a separate approximate segment-mix figure of 72% and 28%, so the reported dollar amounts are the clearer basis for comparison.

| 2025 business measure | Reported amount or share | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Consolidated sales | $30.853 billion | Arrow’s total reported sales |
| Global Components sales | $21.501 billion | About 69.7% of consolidated sales, calculated from the reported amounts |
| Global ECS sales | $9.352 billion | Calculated as consolidated sales less Global Components sales; about 30.3% of the total |
Arrow’s 2025 reporting says semiconductors and related services accounted for approximately 50% of consolidated sales. Within Global Components, its reported product mix was approximately 72% semiconductors, 16% IP&E (interconnect, passive and electromechanical components), 7% computing and memory, and 5% other products and services. The 72% figure applies to Global Components, not to Arrow’s entire company.
Global Components and Global ECS serve different buyers
The two segments divide Arrow’s work by customer and technology market. Global Components supports companies making electronic products; Global ECS focuses on enterprise computing solutions delivered through technology channel partners.

For a manufacturer, the practical question is often how to source parts reliably and move a design into production. For a reseller or service provider, it is more likely how to assemble, sell and manage enterprise technology for its own customers. Arrow’s segment structure reflects those different needs.
Services turn distribution into a broader supply-chain role
For product makers, Arrow’s support can begin before a production order. Its lifecycle offering, as described in its 2025 filing, covers prototyping and design engineering through production readiness, logistics, manufacturing support and customer service. This matters when a company needs help selecting components, validating a design or coordinating supply—not simply placing an order for a known part.

Arrow also identifies services around integration, fulfillment, training, marketing resources and customer support. The combination can help customers coordinate suppliers, products and delivery across a development or deployment process. It does not mean Arrow takes over every engineering or manufacturing task: the specific work depends on the customer and service arrangement.
ArrowSphere extends the model into cloud and channel enablement
ArrowSphere is Arrow’s platform for cloud distribution and management. Arrow describes it as offering VARs and MSPs cloud marketplace, management and business-intelligence tools, with an AI-enabled digital go-to-market platform. In practical terms, it is intended to help channel partners transact cloud services and manage aspects of their cloud business; it is not a consumer cloud-storage product.

Arrow’s expansion began with scale in electronics distribution. In the company’s official history, it says that it secured key semiconductor franchises, led by Texas Instruments in 1970, then opened sales offices in more than 20 U.S. cities. Arrow reports that its electronics-distribution sales grew at an average annual rate of 34% during the 1970s and reached $177 million by the decade’s end, when it was the country’s second-largest electronics distributor.

The present-day model builds on distribution rather than replacing it: component access and supply remain central, while engineering, production support, enterprise IT and cloud-channel capabilities broaden what Arrow can do around the sale. The company reported more than 140 sales facilities and 36 distribution and value-added centers serving more than 85 countries in 2024.
How to distinguish Arrow from a traditional catalog distributor
A useful comparison looks beyond the number of products in a catalog. Depending on the buyer’s need, the relevant differences are:
- Engineering depth: whether the distributor helps with component selection, design engineering and prototyping.
- Lifecycle coverage: whether support extends from early design through production readiness and ongoing supply.
- Logistics and fulfillment: whether the provider can support delivery and supply-chain needs across locations and production stages.
- Enterprise IT capabilities: whether the offering includes enterprise computing and cloud distribution, not only electronic components.
- Channel enablement: whether resellers and MSPs receive tools or services to sell and manage solutions for their customers.
- Supplier and customer reach: whether the provider’s supplier relationships and geographic network fit the buyer’s requirements.
Arrow’s filings and company materials describe capabilities across these areas. That breadth is the basis for calling it a technology enabler as well as a distributor; it does not by itself establish that Arrow is the best fit for every customer or transaction.
Does Arrow sell directly to consumers?
Arrow’s reported business is built around OEMs, EMS providers, VARs and MSPs, rather than a general consumer-retail model. Some products may be available to individuals through a particular sales channel, but the information cited here does not establish a universal direct-to-consumer purchasing route or that every item in Arrow’s portfolio is available for individual orders. Consumers looking for one component should check the relevant product listing and seller terms rather than assume Arrow operates like a consumer electronics store.
