The implementation was intended to make screening and review holds more efficient; the announcement does not establish current product availability or performance guarantees.
What the implementation did
Export On-Demand checked trading partners associated with Pilot’s customer transactions against government restricted-party lists. The purpose was to identify parties that could not lawfully participate in particular export or import transactions, so Pilot could review potential matches before proceeding.
For a freight forwarder, automating these checks can help make screening part of transaction handling rather than relying only on manual searches. A potential match can be held for resolution, giving staff an opportunity to review it instead of treating every name similarity as a confirmed violation. Amber Road described the solution as a secure way to automate screening and hold resolution. Amber Road’s announcement is the source for the implementation description.
What Export On-Demand screened
Amber Road said the solution screened customers, suppliers, and other trading partners against more than 590 government lists worldwide as reported in 2018. The checks covered denied-persons and illegal-transshipper lists, parties blocked from import or export transactions, and sanctions relating to activities including terrorism, narcotics trafficking, money laundering, and weapons proliferation.

How it handled matches and list updates
Match-quality controls
The announcement says the software used intelligent algorithms and business rules intended to improve match accuracy. It does not provide an independently measured false-positive rate, match-accuracy score, or other validation statistic. A screening alert therefore still required resolution rather than serving as proof that a trading partner was sanctioned.

Updates through the cloud platform
Amber Road said its trade-content experts maintained the database and that list changes or additions were usually pushed through the cloud platform within 24 hours. “Usually” is not a service-level guarantee, and the timing is what the vendor reported in 2018; the available announcement does not confirm a present-day update cadence.
Why Pilot chose the solution
Chris Ashiotes, Pilot’s vice president, general counsel and secretary, said the company wanted to reduce risk through better-informed decisions, increase team efficiency, and continue developing its global trade-compliance program. He described Amber Road as the “gold standard in global trade compliance.” That characterization is Ashiotes’s statement in the announcement, not an independent assessment.

John Hill, Pilot’s president and chief commercial officer, said the operations team had realized increased productivity in managing restricted-party screening through automation. He also said the solution enhanced Pilot’s ability to safeguard customers and protect the company against potential compliance violations.
These are statements from Pilot and Amber Road’s 2018 announcement. No independent before-and-after productivity measure was published in the cited material, so the announcement does not quantify the operational impact.
