Google’s Flight Deals tool lets you describe the trip you want in everyday language and see flight and destination ideas drawn from Google Flights. It can help flexible travelers uncover lower-fare options, but it does not guarantee the cheapest ticket or book the trip for you. Treat it as a discovery tool: check the itinerary, full trip cost and fare rules before paying.

What Google Flight Deals does

Flight Deals is a natural-language search feature inside Google Flights. Instead of choosing a destination and testing dates one combination at a time, you can describe a trip by season, length, budget, interests or flight preferences. Google says its AI interprets the request, suggests suitable destinations and uses Google Flights data to show options from hundreds of airlines and booking sites.

The feature is aimed at people willing to trade some control over destination, dates or routing for more possibilities. It is an addition to Google Flights, not a replacement for its standard search tools.

Where it is available

Google first introduced Flight Deals as a beta in August 2025, initially for users in the United States, Canada and India. On November 17, 2025, Google announced a broader rollout to more than 200 countries and territories and more than 60 languages, while still describing the feature as beta. Availability and interface details may vary by country, account, device and rollout stage. The announcement is described in Google’s global rollout post.

How to search with Flight Deals

  1. Open Google Flights. Open Flight Deals from its dedicated page or from the menu in the upper-left corner of Google Flights.

  2. Describe the trip in ordinary language. Include your departure airport or region, rough dates, trip length, budget, number of travelers and any firm requirements such as nonstop flights or a cabin class.

  3. Review the suggested destinations and itineraries. Check whether the dates, airports, stops and trip length match what you meant.

  4. If the results miss a requirement, refine the request and repeat any non-negotiable constraints. Natural-language terms such as “near,” “short” and “cheap” can be interpreted differently than you expect.

  5. Open a promising option in Google Flights, then follow the displayed booking link and confirm the price and conditions on the airline or booking provider’s checkout page before purchasing.

Google says the feature uses real-time Google Flights data, but a displayed fare is not locked: price or availability can change between the recommendation, itinerary page and checkout.

Prompts to try

More specific prompts give the tool useful boundaries without requiring you to choose a destination up front. For example:

State what you mean by flexibility. If you can use nearby airports, accept connections or shift dates by several days, say so. If you cannot, specify the exact airport, dates or nonstop requirement—and verify that the result actually honors it.

Who is most likely to benefit?

Good fit: travelers open to options

Less useful: trips with hard constraints

  • You must travel on exact dates or arrive at a particular airport.

  • You need nonstop service, a specific airline or a particular loyalty program.

  • You are traveling for a fixed event, such as a meeting or appointment, where schedule and destination matter more than discovery.

For a fixed itinerary, standard Google Flights gives you more direct control over search fields and filters. Flight Deals is most useful earlier, when you are still deciding where to go.

Does Flight Deals actually make flights cheaper?

It may help you find a lower fare by making it easier to consider more destinations, dates and routes than you might test manually. It does not create discounts or set airline prices. A result may cost less because it changes an important part of the trip—such as destination, travel date, airport, number of stops, airline or fare type.

Google’s product announcement describes the feature but does not establish that it consistently beats ordinary Google Flights searches, airline websites or other search services, or quantify an average saving. Judge a “deal” against an equivalent itinerary, not just the headline fare. Include baggage, seat selection, ground transport, agency fees, currency conversion and the cost of a longer or less convenient journey.

Check the full cost and itinerary before booking

A low displayed fare is only useful if the complete trip works for you. Before buying, check:

Alongside the initial Flight Deals launch, Google added a separate option for users in the United States and Canada to exclude basic-economy fares on domestic trips. This is a conventional Google Flights update, not an AI function, and should not be assumed to apply to every country, route or fare. Basic economy can restrict items such as seat selection, changes, boarding priority or carry-on baggage, so compare the restrictions and total cost rather than relying on the lowest headline price.

When to use another search method

Use Flight Deals to brainstorm and surface destinations when you have room to be flexible. Switch to standard Google Flights when you have a destination, dates or detailed constraints to audit. You can also compare with services such as Kayak, Skyscanner or airline websites, but available published information does not establish that any one search service always finds the lowest fare. Confirm the final price and conditions with the provider that will sell the ticket.
