Check your own account in the official My Verizon app for any current offer, and do not trust an undated headline or an unsolicited link as proof that you qualify.
What the original $25 Verizon offer was
In December 2022, Droid Life reported that some Verizon Up members saw a tile in the My Verizon app offering “Here’s your $25 Verizon Gift Card, on us.” The report described a claim process within Verizon Up and said the card code and PIN could later be retrieved in the app. Droid Life’s December 16, 2022 report is historical coverage, not confirmation that the offer is still active.

The report does not establish that every Verizon subscriber qualified, or that prepaid, Fios-only, business, or former customers were eligible. It described an offer shown to eligible Verizon Up users; Verizon did not present it as a universal public giveaway in the material available for this article.
The steps reported at the time were to open My Verizon, go to Verizon Up, scroll to “Browse featured offers,” select the $25 gift-card tile, and claim it. Claimed offers could be revisited under “Manage claimed offers.” Those labels describe the 2022 app interface and may not match the current app.

How to check whether you have a legitimate offer now
- Open the official My Verizon app directly, or manually type Verizon’s website address into your browser. Do not start from a link in an unsolicited text, email, social post, or advertisement.
- Sign in and check the current offers, rewards, or loyalty area available to your account.
- Open the offer’s terms. Check its expiration date, eligible account types, any purchase or activation requirement, and where the reward can be redeemed.
- Claim only if the offer appears in your authenticated Verizon account and its terms make sense. Save any gift-card number and PIN securely.
- If an offer is missing or fails at checkout, contact Verizon through the app or its official support channels.
There is no evidence in the current official Verizon material reviewed for a still-active, universal $25 gift-card giveaway matching the 2022 headline as of August 18, 2026. An offer that appears in your own account may have its own terms; the old headline alone does not establish that it is available to you.
How Verizon gift cards can be used
Verizon’s gift-card FAQ says gift cards can generally be used for eligible Verizon devices, accessories, merchandise, services, mobile or Fios bill payments, and prepaid-plan replenishment. They can be used through Verizon’s website, My Verizon, or eligible Verizon-operated stores. The exact payment path can vary by account type.
- Authorized Retailers: Verizon gift cards are not accepted at Verizon Authorized Retailer locations. A store displaying Verizon branding may be an authorized retailer rather than a Verizon-operated store.
- Recurring Auto Pay: A gift card is a one-time payment method, not a recurring Auto Pay funding source. Verizon support has clarified that Auto Pay uses a credit card, debit card, or checking account rather than a Verizon gift card. Verizon community support discussion
- Bill payment: Verizon says a balance due is required to add a gift card as a bill-payment method.
- Expiration and balance: Verizon says its gift cards do not expire and are not subject to dormancy fees. Check a balance online or call 800-876-4141, or dial #GIFT (#4438) from a Verizon mobile device.
- Lost card details: Treat the card number and PIN like cash. Verizon says it is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged cards; cards are generally nonrefundable except where required by law.
Verizon also lists gift cards for sale in denominations including $25, $50, $75, and $100. A card available for purchase is not the same as a promotional card given free to an eligible account.

Verizon Up, Verizon Dollars, and a gift card are different

Verizon’s Verizon Dollars terms say standard monthly mobile or Verizon Wireless Home Internet customers may qualify after enrolling in the My Verizon app; Fios-only and prepaid services are excluded from the stated eligibility. Rewards can be redeemed for participating-merchant gift cards, Verizon devices and accessories, and travel. Non-Verizon Visa participants’ Verizon Dollars expire 12 months after issuance under the current terms. Verizon Visa Card holders have additional redemption options, including certain bill credits.

These distinctions matter if you have a particular type of Verizon account: the exclusion of Fios-only and prepaid service from the stated Verizon Dollars eligibility does not mean those customers cannot use an eligible Verizon gift card. If you cannot find the offer
A missing tile does not prove that the original report was false. The 2022 promotion may have expired, may have been targeted to other accounts, or may have been replaced by different offers. The app’s labels can also change. Do not assume that a current Verizon Dollars balance is a free $25 gift card: it is a separate rewards program with different eligibility, earning, redemption, and expiration rules. - A link takes you to a domain that is not Verizon’s official website.
- The sender demands a processing, shipping, or activation fee to release a supposedly free card.
- You are asked to send a gift-card number or PIN, share your password or a one-time sign-in code, or provide bank-card details to “verify” eligibility.
- A caller or message pressures you to act immediately, or asks for remote access to your phone or computer.
- The claim is based only on a social-media post or an old article, rather than terms shown after you sign in to your Verizon account.
Stop if any of these conditions appear. Navigate to My Verizon yourself and verify the offer there; never give a caller or message sender your card PIN or account credentials.
