Forgepoint Capital led the round, joined by cybersecurity investors and strategic backers including Cisco Investments, Capital One Ventures and In-Q-Tel.
What is GetReal Security?
GetReal Security develops tools and services for identifying and responding to malicious synthetic media. Its technology analyzes images, audio and video for enterprise and government use cases. The company’s stated capabilities span risk management, threat mitigation, security-team training, policy development assistance and incident response.
GetReal emerged from stealth in 2024 after incubation associated with Ballistic Ventures and UC Berkeley professor Hany Farid. In February 2025, it launched GetReal Inspect, which the company describes as a service for deep, multidimensional forensic analysis of image, audio and video content. GetReal’s company history
TechCrunch describes a wider product approach: Inspect for high-profile executives, Protect for screening media, and Respond for deeper human-led analysis. The available descriptions do not specify deployment or integration details for these products. TechCrunch’s report on GetReal’s emergence from stealth

How does GetReal detect deepfakes?
GetReal says its analysis covers image, audio and video, including forensic inspection intended to assess digital media for signs of manipulation or synthetic generation. Inspect is the company’s named deep-analysis service. Its broader offering also includes Protect, described as screening media, and Respond, which TechCrunch characterizes as deeper human-led analysis.
The descriptions establish the media types and broad workflow, but do not disclose a validated accuracy rate, independent benchmark, customer count or detailed detection methodology. That means the available evidence does not support ranking GetReal against other vendors by detection percentage. Buyers assessing alternatives can instead compare supported media formats, how automated detection connects to human review and incident response, deployment and integration requirements, target customer sectors, and evidence of operational adoption.

Why the funding matters—and what it does not establish
The investor group combines cybersecurity-focused firms with corporate and government-oriented participants. The round is a financing announcement, not evidence by itself that the service meets any particular accuracy, compliance or return-on-investment threshold.
GetReal Labs co-founder and interim CEO Ted Schlein framed the need as a growing challenge: “We’ve reached a pivotal moment. AI-generated content is on the verge of dominating the digital landscape and bad actors are already exploiting these advancements. The need for solutions that can quickly and accurately verify and authenticate digital media has never been more critical.”

For organizations evaluating this category, the practical question is not only whether a tool flags suspicious media, but what happens next: how an alert is reviewed, escalated, documented and incorporated into security policy or incident response. GetReal describes capabilities in those areas, but public details in the cited materials do not establish how each service is deployed or measured in production.
