Utah-based Autonomous Solutions Inc. Mining (ASI Mining) announced in October 2023 that it had selected Meridian Park in Neerabup for an Australian office, positioning the industrial-automation company near the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP). The plan was to support autonomous-vehicle development and mining work, including functions connected to Roy Hill. Current precinct sources still associate ASI Mining with Neerabup, but do not confirm when its office opened, how many people work there or which announced functions are operating locally today.
What was announced about ASI Mining in Neerabup?
On 26 October 2023, PerthNow reported that ASI Mining had chosen a site at Meridian Park, an industrial estate in Neerabup, for its Australian office. The Western Australian Government said the move would put the company close to AARP facilities for developing and testing autonomous systems. The announcement concerned a planned office, not a confirmed factory or a relocation of ASI Mining’s global headquarters from Utah.
The government said the Neerabup operation was expected to handle autonomous-haulage oversight and deployment support, product management, and global technology support. It also described plans to develop purpose-built automated systems and work with WA iron-ore operator Roy Hill. These were announced intentions; the available current sources do not establish that every element was delivered. (PerthNow, 26 October 2023; WA Government announcement)
Who is ASI Mining?
Autonomous Solutions Inc. Mining, commonly branded ASI Mining, is a Utah-based American provider of industrial vehicle-automation systems. Its work is associated with mining as well as agriculture, automotive and construction applications. In mining, the focus is autonomous haulage and adapting automation to industrial vehicles—not consumer or household robots.

ASI describes its approach as vendor-independent or OEM-agnostic: its systems are intended to work across equipment rather than being limited to a single vehicle manufacturer. “Robotics giant” was the original headline’s description; the announcement did not provide a financial ranking or evidence that ASI is among the world’s largest robotics manufacturers. Why choose Neerabup?
The practical attraction is proximity to a purpose-built industrial testing environment and to Western Australia’s mining and resources sector. Meridian Park was the announced office location; the AARP is a separate precinct in Neerabup intended to provide space for testing, research, development, training and demonstration. Its operator lists the site on Pederick Road, Neerabup, about 35 kilometres from Perth CBD.

- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- Test away from live production: A dedicated site can allow equipment and systems to be trialled without making a producing mine the sole testing ground.
- Work in an industrial setting: Large equipment, automation and remote-operation systems need environments suited to heavy-industry testing, not just conventional office space.
- Connect with local users and suppliers: Being near mining operators, technology companies and equipment providers may make collaboration and adaptation easier.
The WA Government said the precinct’s testing, training and demonstration facilities were a draw for automation businesses. The idea that controlled trials could help tailor systems to WA mine conditions is a practical inference, not a measured outcome reported in the announcement. What is the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct?
The AARP is a major Australian facility for testing and developing autonomous, remote-operation and robotic systems. DevelopmentWA manages the precinct, while CORE Innovation Hub operates it. Its target sectors include mining, energy, defence, agriculture, space, construction, logistics and advanced manufacturing.

| Current AARP description | Reported detail |
|---|---|
| Site area | 51 hectares |
| Test beds | Six |
| Headquarters facility | 1,200 square metres |
| Location | Pederick Road, Neerabup; about 35 kilometres from Perth CBD |
These figures describe the precinct, not ASI Mining’s office. The 2023 announcement separately described construction beginning on a $7.3 million common-user facility operations building with laboratories, warehouse space, training and meeting rooms, co-working areas and a precinct headquarters. It said the planned building would use solar power connected to a battery and microgrid network. CORE’s current page describes an AARP headquarters facility, but the available material does not establish whether it is the same building or confirm the original project’s completion date, final cost or current energy performance. How does the Roy Hill project fit in?
The 2023 government announcement said ASI Mining would work with Roy Hill to develop and expand purpose-built automated systems. A contemporaneous AARP post described ASI Mining deploying its Mobius autonomous-haulage system with mining-technology company Epiroc at Roy Hill. It characterised the work as a retrofit program involving the operator’s full fleet of 96 haul trucks. That is a claim about the deployment at the time, not confirmation of Roy Hill’s current fleet or the program’s present status. (WA Government; AARP post)
Rank #4
The two settings serve different purposes: Roy Hill is a real mine operating environment, while the AARP offers a dedicated test and demonstration site. In principle, combining controlled testing with operator experience can help identify integration, safety and operational requirements before or during deployment. It does not, by itself, prove commercial performance, cost savings or safety outcomes.

If the announced work and partnerships take hold, the presence of an automation provider could strengthen links between global technology firms, local mining operators and WA suppliers. It may also support demand for engineering, software, field-service and training skills, and create opportunities for smaller companies to test or develop industrial technology. These are potential benefits, not confirmed job numbers or delivered economic results.

Automation can also change the mix of work rather than simply add jobs: some roles may shift toward systems operation, maintenance, software and remote support, while other tasks may be reduced or reorganised. Deployment in mines brings integration, communications, cybersecurity, safety, regulatory and workforce challenges. The 2023 announcement did not disclose ASI Mining’s investment amount, office size, expected local workforce, lease value or a completion date, and it did not promise local manufacturing.
What is confirmed now—and what remains unclear?
As of August 2026, City of Wanneroo material from November 2024 says the AARP had attracted investment and businesses to Neerabup and identifies ASI Mining among global industry participants. CORE’s current AARP page and the precinct’s organisational profile also support that the precinct remains active and that ASI Mining is associated with Neerabup. Those references do not independently verify the opening date or ongoing staffing of ASI Mining’s specific office.
- Supported by current precinct material: The AARP remains an active facility, and ASI Mining is identified among businesses associated with Neerabup.
- Not established in the available current sources: Whether the planned office opened, how many employees or contractors are based there, what work is currently performed from it, and whether each 2023 commitment was completed.
- Also unconfirmed: Current status and measurable results of the Roy Hill deployment, local procurement or training outcomes, and completion details for the announced $7.3 million facility.
