The price depended on a $120 instant rebate plus a $50 coupon applied in the cart; it is not a standing Apple price. The last reported price is historical, so check the retailer’s final cart total before treating any listing as a deal.
What the $1,229 deal included
The offer was for the 2024 Mac mini with Apple’s M4 Pro chip: a 12-core CPU, 16-core GPU, 24GB of unified memory and a 512GB SSD. It was the entry-level M4 Pro configuration, not the higher-core or upgraded-memory and storage versions. Apple’s specifications identify this as the base M4 Pro configuration (Apple technical specifications).

The original deal report said Amazon listed the same configuration for $1,279 at the time, making B&H $50 cheaper in that comparison. It also reported free two-day shipping to addresses in the contiguous United States. These are details of the December 31, 2025 offer, not current quotes or a verified all-time-low price (original deal report).
Is the coupon still available?
The deal report was published December 31, 2025 and described the promotion as “today only.” The available information does not establish that the coupon remains active. Treat $1,229 as an expired deal unless a current B&H listing and checkout confirm otherwise. No reusable public coupon code was verified; the reported $50 discount was applied in the cart.

If you find a current listing, verify the exact 12-core CPU/16-core GPU, 24GB memory and 512GB SSD configuration, then inspect the final cart total. A missing coupon may mean the promotion has ended, the item or SKU differs, stock has changed, or the offer’s terms no longer allow the discounts to combine. Check the seller, whether the unit is new, shipping eligibility, tax, return terms and warranty before paying. The original shipping claim applied to the contiguous U.S.; other regions may have different costs and availability.
What you get from the M4 Pro configuration
Apple lists an M4 Pro CPU with eight performance cores and four efficiency cores, a 16-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine and 273GB/s memory bandwidth. The machine includes hardware-accelerated ray tracing, media engines for H.264, HEVC, ProRes and ProRes RAW, and AV1 decode. Its connections include three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet configurable to 10Gb Ethernet, two front USB-C ports and a headphone jack. Apple specifies support for up to three displays, including three displays up to 6K at 60Hz in supported configurations (Apple technical specifications).

Apple introduced this Mac mini generation in October 2024, with availability beginning November 8, 2024. Its redesigned enclosure is about five inches square (Apple’s launch announcement).
Who should consider the M4 Pro—and who can save with M4?
The M4 Pro fits demanding, sustained workloads
- Developers compiling code or running several local development services.
- Video editors, photographers and music producers whose projects benefit from more CPU/GPU capacity and 24GB of unified memory.
- People who need multiple external displays, fast Thunderbolt 5 storage or docks.
- Users exploring local AI workloads who can make use of the Pro chip’s memory bandwidth and larger memory configurations.
Apple lists M4 Pro memory options of 24GB, 48GB and 64GB and storage options of 512GB, 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB. Unified memory is not user-upgradable, so choose capacity for the work you expect to do. The 512GB SSD can also become limiting for large video, photo, audio or development projects; plan for external storage if needed.

The standard M4 is likely enough for everyday computing
For browsing, office work, school, streaming, general multitasking, light photo editing or basic programming, the standard M4 Mac mini may be the more sensible value. Its base configuration has a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU and 16GB of unified memory (Apple technical specifications). Paying for M4 Pro makes less sense if those workloads are your main use and you do not need its higher performance tier or Thunderbolt 5.

The $1,229 offer was for the desktop, not a complete workstation. The Mac mini does not inherently include a display, keyboard, mouse or trackpad, external storage, or AppleCare+. Apple sells input devices and Thunderbolt accessories separately (Apple’s launch announcement). If you already own compatible peripherals, the deal price is closer to your system cost; otherwise, include those purchases, any needed cables or hub, storage, tax and shipping in your budget.

How to judge a replacement offer
Do not compare a different M4 Pro variant as though it were the $1,229 model. A system with 48GB memory, more storage or the 14-core CPU/20-core GPU is a different configuration. Compare the final price for the same chip, memory, storage, condition and seller, and distinguish a cart price after discounts from a product-page price before coupons.
