EE Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 Pro deals: is the “big saving” genuine?

EE’s widely quoted Pixel 8 savings date from October 2023. Here’s how to check whether a current EE Pixel listing is a genuine deal once handset, airtime, condition and trade-in costs are included.

Short answer: the widely quoted EE savings of up to £222 on the Pixel 8 and £344 on the Pixel 8 Pro were part of a launch promotion in October 2023—not verified current offers. EE still has indexed information for older Pixel phones, including a “Good as New” Pixel 8 Pro page, but that does not establish a live price or stock for a new Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro or Pixel 7 Pro. Check the actual checkout total before treating any headline saving as a deal.

What was EE’s “big saving”?

The figures most likely to be behind the headline come from EE’s October 2023 Pixel 8 launch announcement. EE said customers could save up to £222 on the Pixel 8 or up to £344 on the Pixel 8 Pro, in addition to trade-in savings. Those were maximum advertised savings, not guaranteed discounts for every buyer.

The launch promotion ran for pre-orders placed from October 4 to October 16, 2023. It also included an accessory with each model. EE’s announcement does not verify that these prices or gifts are available now.

Model EE’s advertised maximum saving Launch gift and stated value Qualifying period
Pixel 8 Up to £222 Pixel Buds Pro, stated value £199 October 4–16, 2023
Pixel 8 Pro Up to £344 Pixel Watch 2, stated value £349 October 4–16, 2023

The gifts’ stated retail values are not cash discounts. The promotion was separate from any trade-in value, which depended on the device a customer submitted and the terms applying at the time. EE’s launch explanation also distinguishes the standard Pixel 8 from the larger, camera-focused Pro model.

Is there a current EE Pixel 8 or Pixel 7 Pro deal?

EE’s indexed Google device guides include the Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, but a device guide is not proof that a particular phone is currently for sale. The available EE pages do not establish a live October 2026 price for a new unit of any of these models, nor do they verify that the 2023 launch savings remain active.

EE does have a Pixel 8 Pro “Good as New” product page. That is a different proposition from a confirmed offer on a factory-sealed new phone. Before ordering, check the selected model, storage, colour, condition, stock status, upfront payment, monthly device payment, airtime plan, contract duration and any scheduled price rises in the live checkout. Do not assume that a listing or an old promotion guarantees availability.

How to tell whether the total cost is actually lower

EE Flex Pay separates the device credit agreement from the airtime plan. A low device payment can therefore sit alongside a more expensive service plan. Compare the whole contract with buying the handset separately and using a similar SIM-only plan over the same period.

Use the figures shown for your own checkout and calculate:

EE total = upfront device payment + all device payments + all airtime payments + compulsory fees + scheduled price increases − confirmed trade-in credit.

Then compare it with:

SIM-free alternative = current handset price + equivalent SIM-only plan payments for the same period.

Count an accessory only if it is genuinely included in the current offer and you would otherwise have bought it; its advertised value is not money off your bill. Likewise, subtract trade-in credit only once you have checked its eligibility and the inspection terms. A “save up to” figure cannot establish a saving without a clear comparison price and the costs attached to the contract.

EE’s Good as New Pixel 8 Pro page requires customers to be at least 18, resident in the UK, pass a credit check and take an airtime plan. Its indexed offer showed a minimum £30 upfront payment and an Unlimited Essentials plan at £35 a month, with future increases displayed. These are page-specific figures, not a universal or guaranteed checkout quote: recheck the selected configuration and full payment schedule before agreeing.

Good as New is not the same as new

EE labels the Pixel 8 Pro listing “Good as New”; the label alone does not tell you whether the particular device was returned, refurbished or graded for cosmetic condition. Before comparing its price with sealed retail stock, ask EE to clarify the device’s condition and check:

  • What “Good as New” means for this specific phone, including any cosmetic grading.
  • Whether the battery has a stated condition or capacity standard.
  • What warranty, packaging and accessories are included.
  • Whether the displayed price is for the handset alone or requires a new airtime agreement.
  • Which returns and cancellation terms apply to the order.

Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro and Pixel 7 Pro: which one fits?

These are not interchangeable deals. Pick the phone for the features you will use, then judge whether its total price is competitive. EE’s launch material described the Pixel 8 Pro as having a triple rear camera system with a 5× telephoto lens; it positioned the Pixel 8 as the standard, lower-priced model.

Model What may justify choosing it What to weigh up
Pixel 8 Smaller form factor and a strong main-camera experience. It lacks the Pro’s telephoto hardware; buy it only if its total cost beats a newer or SIM-free alternative by enough to matter.
Pixel 8 Pro Larger screen and Pro-focused camera hardware, including telephoto. Higher handset and contract costs make the camera and display benefits important to the value calculation.
Pixel 7 Pro Large high-refresh-rate display and telephoto camera at a potentially lower purchase cost. It is older than the Pixel 8 Pro; check remaining software support, battery condition, device condition and total contract cost carefully.

Google’s Pixel update policy explains support by device and when its update period begins. Check that policy for the exact model rather than assuming all Pixel generations have the same remaining support. Battery health, modem efficiency, thermal behaviour and performance may also differ between generations and between individual used or returned devices.

Trade-in: when a quoted value can change

EE’s trade-in wording on its Pixel 9a deal page lists Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro among qualifying Google devices for a stated 10% trade-in increase when buying a qualifying Google device, subject to the offer terms. That does not establish the amount you would receive for a specific phone or that the same promotion applies to a Pixel 8-series purchase. Check the current terms and selected plan; the selected-plan page also shows why plan selection can matter.

EE’s wording says a trade-in phone must power up, be in good working order and have no major screen damage to qualify. If the phone fails inspection or does not match its description, EE can charge the credited amount to the bill. Before sending a handset:

  • Check the screen, battery and ability to power on; ask EE how it treats cracks or other damage.
  • Confirm that you own the phone and that it meets any network-lock or account requirements.
  • Back up your data, remove your Google account and screen lock, and reset the phone as instructed.
  • Keep a record of its condition and follow the submission instructions. A phone sent in generally cannot be recovered.
  • Check what happens to promotional credit if you cancel or return the new order.

Repairs and condition can change the value calculation

EE’s listed screen-repair prices vary by page and eligibility, so there is no single universal price. Its general repairs page lists £120 for a Pixel 8 screen, £170 for a Pixel 8 Pro and £150 for a Pixel 7 Pro. The separate repair special-offers page lists £90 for a Pixel 8 screen and £150 for a Pixel 8 Pro screen. Both pages list battery repairs at £40 for these three models. Check the relevant page for current eligibility and terms before relying on a figure.

For a Good as New or other previously owned phone, an apparently low purchase price may be less attractive if the battery or screen needs attention. Confirm the phone’s condition and repair coverage before comparing it with a new device.

Who should consider an EE offer—and who should skip it?

It may suit you if

  • The live checkout clearly identifies the phone’s condition and shows a total cost lower than a comparable handset-plus-SIM-only option.
  • You already value EE’s network or account arrangements and the airtime plan suits your usage.
  • You have a trade-in device that meets the stated conditions, and the inspected credit meaningfully improves the total.
  • You specifically want the Pixel 8 Pro’s larger display and telephoto camera, or the Pixel 8’s smaller form.

It is likely poor value if

  • The claimed saving relies on EE’s expired October 2023 launch promotion.
  • A low monthly figure hides a large upfront payment, costly airtime or scheduled increases.
  • The phone is Good as New or otherwise previously owned but priced close to a newer or sealed alternative.
  • You do not need EE’s plan and a SIM-free phone with comparable SIM-only service costs less overall.
  • You are relying on an unconfirmed trade-in amount or counting a launch gift as cash savings.

What to check before you order

  1. Open the live EE product page and confirm the exact model, storage, colour, condition and stock status.
  2. Record the upfront payment, device-payment amount and term, airtime price and term, compulsory charges and every displayed future price increase.
  3. Check the current trade-in terms for your particular phone, including inspection conditions and what happens if it fails or you cancel the order.
  4. Add the full EE payments and subtract only confirmed trade-in credit. Compare that total with the current SIM-free handset price plus an equivalent SIM-only plan for the same period.
  5. Read the applicable device, airtime, credit and returns terms before accepting the agreement.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
