A March 5, 2026, GeekWire roundup reported two chief marketing officer appointments, the planned resignation of an AWS security-readiness director, and Gong’s promotion of an existing executive to chief customer officer. The moves involve companies and leaders connected to the Pacific Northwest, but they are separate personnel changes—not evidence of a coordinated hiring trend.

The four headline moves at a glance

Person Company Change reported March 5, 2026 Background or status
Bridget Perry Amperity Named chief marketing officer Previously held marketing roles at Microsoft and Adobe and was interim CMO at Later.
Jen Jones Siteimprove Named chief marketing officer Previously worked at commercetools.
Jenny Brinkley Amazon Web Services Announced her resignation as director of security readiness Had been at AWS for nearly a decade; the report did not identify her next employer.
Simon Frey Gong Promoted to chief customer officer Previously Gong’s senior vice president of customer outcomes; joined the company in 2024.

These details come from GeekWire’s March 5, 2026, roundup. Its publication date is the reference point for the reported titles and employment changes; it does not establish anyone’s later status.

Amperity appoints Bridget Perry as CMO

Amperity, a Seattle-based customer-data startup, appointed Bridget Perry chief marketing officer. GeekWire identified the company as No. 39 on its GeekWire 200 list at the time of the roundup; that is a dated ranking, not a current one.

Perry’s marketing background

Perry spent nearly nine years as a marketing director at Microsoft and more than eight years at Adobe, where she was CMO for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before joining Amperity, she served as interim CMO at Later. GeekWire also reported that she had advisory work, but did not detail its scope.

What the appointment does—and does not—tell us

A senior marketing hire at a customer-data software company puts an experienced executive in charge of a function that can explain the product’s value to prospective customers and the wider market. Amperity CEO Tony Owens praised Perry’s experience and described the company as scaling globally, according to GeekWire. That characterization is the CEO’s statement; the roundup did not provide independent evidence of the scale or pace of expansion.

The report did not specify Perry’s start date, reporting line, formal priorities, or detailed remit. It therefore does not establish a strategic pivot or a particular marketing plan.

Siteimprove names Jen Jones CMO

Siteimprove announced Jen Jones as its chief marketing officer. Jones previously worked at commercetools, though GeekWire did not specify her title or dates there.

Siteimprove is headquartered in Denmark and also has an office in Bellevue, Washington, where much of its executive leadership team is based, according to the roundup. GeekWire described the company as helping businesses improve website functionality. That places Jones’s appointment at a company whose offering concerns business websites, but the article did not lay out a product-by-product mandate for the CMO.

The report did not give Jones’s start date, reporting structure, or priorities. It also did not describe a fuller strategic rationale for the appointment.

Jenny Brinkley announces her departure from AWS

Jenny Brinkley announced that she was resigning as AWS director of security readiness after nearly a decade at Amazon Web Services. She was based in Portland, Oregon. GeekWire also noted her earlier experience co-founding an AI startup and running a consultancy.

In a LinkedIn statement cited by GeekWire, Brinkley said she would start a role the following week in a rapidly growing space. The roundup did not name the employer or position. It reported an announced resignation, not a layoff, and gives no basis for inferring a broader AWS restructuring or a move to an AI startup.

Gong promotes Simon Frey to chief customer officer

Gong promoted Simon Frey from senior vice president of customer outcomes to chief customer officer. This was an internal promotion, not a reported external hire. Frey joined Gong in 2024 after serving as vice president of revenue at TaxBit; his earlier employers included Qualtrics and McKinsey.

Gong chief revenue architect Shane Evans said Frey had spent years working with customers to help revenue organizations achieve growth, GeekWire reported. Elevating a customer-outcomes executive to CCO gives that area a higher-profile title in Gong’s leadership structure. The article did not say whether the role was newly created, describe an organizational change, or identify retention, expansion, or another specific business goal as the reason for the promotion.

Other personnel changes in the roundup

The four headline developments were part of a wider list. GeekWire also reported these moves:

  • Elizabeth Scallon joined Nvidia as director of healthcare AI startups, overseeing its global Healthcare and Life Sciences Inception program, after working at HP.
  • Padmashree Koneti left her chief product officer role at Yoodli after roughly five months; no replacement had been named. Alexandra Breymeier joined Yoodli as customer success lead.
  • Vandana Shah became Scowtt’s vice president of product after roles at Ladder and Google.
  • Dinesh Govindasamy was promoted to director of engineering at Meta.
  • Beto Yarce began as director of Seattle’s Office of Economic Development.
  • Rob Lloyd was expected to become executive director of the Center for Digital Government.
  • Dan Rodgers became CFO of CTL.
  • Scott Roberts joined the board of Voices.

What the moves may—and may not—signal

The appointments offer a few limited observations: two software companies named CMOs, Gong promoted a customer-outcomes leader to CCO, and the roundup included personnel moves across large technology companies, startups, and public-sector organizations. That is a useful snapshot of executive mobility, not proof of a common strategy or an industry-wide wave. The reported departures and appointments were not shown to be connected.
