PerimeterX announced a $57 million growth-capital round on February 23, 2021, led by AllianceBernstein. The company said it would use the funding to expand into new industries and geographies, including financial services, EMEA and APAC. It reported that the round brought its total capital raised to $144 million.

Who led PerimeterX’s $57 million funding round?

AllianceBernstein led the financing, according to PerimeterX’s February 23, 2021 announcement. New investors Stereo Capital, JS Capital and Golden Arc Capital joined the round. Existing supporters Adams Street Partners, Canaan Partners, DTCP, Scale Venture Partners and Vertex Ventures US also participated. PerimeterX said the financing raised its total capital to $144 million.

Why did PerimeterX raise the money?

The company described the capital as growth funding for expansion into additional geographic markets and verticals. Its CEO, Omri Iluz, pointed to financial services as a new industry where the company saw strong uptake, and said it planned to further develop its footholds in EMEA and APAC.

“It gives us the runway to extend our market reach beyond our core retail e-commerce vertical into new industries where we see strong uptake such as financial services. And it enables us to further develop geographies where we have a foothold including EMEA and APAC.”

AllianceBernstein Growth Stage Capital Managing Director Abhishek Sud said the firm saw global opportunities for PerimeterX’s solutions and cited the platform’s cloud-native design as a way to integrate with customers’ existing infrastructure. Those are the investor’s views in the same announcement, rather than independent findings about the product’s performance.

What did PerimeterX sell?

PerimeterX described its offering as enterprise web-application security services, not a consumer product. Its named services were Bot Defender, Code Defender and Page Defender, which the company said detected risks to web applications and helped manage them proactively.

The announcement said the platform integrated with Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure, Snyk, DataDog and Splunk. The company’s description gives context for the enterprise software category, but does not establish present-day product availability, support or deployment terms. The named services and integrations reflect the 2021 announcement.

What scale did PerimeterX report?

PerimeterX cited the following operating figures in its 2021 announcement. They are company-reported claims, not independently audited measures in the cited material:
