Meta’s own published account refers to a data center in Kuna, Idaho, so the claim that it is building its first Idaho data center is not supported by the information currently available in the company sources cited here. Meta says it invested more than $70 million in a water and wastewater treatment facility for the Kuna site and later gifted that facility to the city. The company account does not announce a new Idaho project.
What Meta has confirmed about Idaho
In an article published December 17, 2025, and updated June 26, 2026, Meta refers to its “Kuna, Idaho data center.” The reference establishes that Meta has a data-center presence in Idaho, contradicting the implication that the company has none there. Meta does not give the facility’s opening date in that article. Meta’s water-stewardship account says the company invested more than $70 million to build a water and wastewater treatment facility at the Kuna data center, and that it has since been gifted to the city. The dollar figure is Meta’s reported investment, not an independent audit.
Is Meta building a new Idaho data center?
The official sources searched for this story do not substantiate a new announcement to build Meta’s first data center in Idaho. That is a limited finding about those sources, not proof that no later or unindexed announcement exists. The available Kuna reference concerns an existing data-center presence; it does not announce a separate project.
Those sources also do not establish a new Idaho facility’s location, capacity, budget, construction schedule, power source, cooling system, or water use. Meta’s general data-center explainer says these physical buildings house technology that rapidly processes digital information and supports services such as social apps and AI assistants. That company-wide description is context, not a specification for the Kuna site.

| What Idaho investment does Meta report? | More than $70 million to build a water and wastewater treatment facility at the Kuna data center, according to Meta’s article updated June 26, 2026. Meta says the facility was later gifted to the city. |
| Has a new first-in-Idaho project been announced? | Not established by the official sources cited here. |
| What are the Kuna site’s technical specifications? | Capacity, power source, cooling system, construction schedule, and site-specific water use are not stated in the cited account. |
Meta’s 2023 article describes a broader, next-generation data-center design that supports liquid-cooled AI hardware and high-performance networking. It does not say that the Kuna facility uses that design, so those details should not be treated as specifications for Idaho. Meta’s AI-optimized data-center article is about the company’s general infrastructure direction.
