Telehouse’s capacity figures have changed as floors were fitted out, and its announcements distinguish between total power and IT power. A separate Docklands project, Telehouse West Two, is planned for 2028.
What is the new Telehouse data centre in London’s Docklands?
Telehouse South is a colocation facility at Telehouse’s London Docklands campus. Telehouse said in its 25 August 2020 announcement that the building was about 300 metres from its existing campus and would connect to it by dark fibre. The company described the link as a way for customers to reach the established campus environment, which it then said included almost 800 connectivity partners. That partner count reflects Telehouse’s 2020 statement, not a verified current total.
Telehouse said the expansion was intended to serve demand for secure, resilient colocation and access to cloud and managed-hosting services. That is the company’s stated rationale; its announcements do not independently establish market demand or customer uptake.
When did Telehouse South open?
Telehouse announced the project on 25 August 2020, initially saying the first floor was expected to become available in early 2022. On 28 March 2022, it announced that the first floor was online and that the facility had officially opened. A subsequent upgrade announcement in October 2023 referred to the facility as having opened in spring 2022; it described further work, not a later opening date.

How much capacity does Telehouse South have?
The reported figures refer to different stages and measures. The 2020 figures were announced plans; later releases describe the opening and subsequent fit-out. All are Telehouse-reported metrics rather than independently audited specifications.
| Date and source | What Telehouse reported | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 25 August 2020, project announcement | 31,000 sqm of facility space over more than six floors; 30 MVA total power; around 500 racks planned for the first floor. | Announced project plan, with first-floor availability targeted for early 2022. |
| 28 March 2022, opening announcement | First floor online, with capacity for up to 668 racks and 2 MW of power; full buildout described as 12,000 sqm of colocation space and 18 MW total power. | Opening and full-buildout figures as reported by Telehouse in 2022. |
| 10 October 2023, upgrade announcement | Target of 7.7 MW across three floors of colocation space. | Describes an upgrade phase, not a revised opening date. |
| 30 September 2024, additional-floors update | Floors six and seven available from that month, each with up to 2.7 MW of peak IT load; up to 18 MW of IT power and more than 4,000 racks across the building at full development. | IT power is a distinct measure from the 18 MW of total power cited in 2022. |
The numbers should not be treated as interchangeable: MVA is a measure of apparent power, while MW describes real power, and the 2024 announcement specifically labels its 18 MW figure as IT power. Telehouse’s updates describe successive plans and fit-out stages; they do not establish independent verification of present operating capacity or performance.

Is Telehouse building another data centre in Docklands?
Yes. Telehouse West Two is a separate project, not another name for Telehouse South. Telehouse announced construction in October 2025, describing a £275 million investment and planned completion in 2028. Its current London Docklands campus update lists West Two at 32,000 m² gross area, 11,292 m² of white space, 33 MW overall building power and 22 MW IT power. Those specifications belong to West Two, not Telehouse South.
