Kyndryl and Microsoft announced a co-developed suite of enterprise cyber-resilience services on November 14, 2024. The services are integrated into Kyndryl Bridge and address four operational needs: compliance readiness, Microsoft Sentinel SIEM migration, Microsoft Entra identity and access management, and Microsoft Defender extended detection and response (XDR).
What Kyndryl and Microsoft announced
The announcement describes professional and managed security services rather than a standalone consumer product. Kyndryl says its specialists combine Microsoft security technologies with Kyndryl implementation and operational expertise to help organizations prepare for regulatory requirements, modernize security operations, control access, and respond to threats across a broader set of assets.
Kyndryl also said the services are integrated into Kyndryl Bridge, which it describes as an AI-powered, open-integration digital business platform. The company announced that it had joined the Microsoft Intelligent Security Association (MISA), an ecosystem of independent software vendors and managed security service providers that integrate with Microsoft Security technology.
The four service areas
| Service area | Microsoft technology | Problem addressed | Scope described in the announcement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Compliance and risk readiness | Microsoft Purview | Understanding and managing compliance exposure across complex environments | Automated assessments across multicloud and hybrid-cloud environments, followed by expert recommendations on policies and operating procedures |
| SIEM migration | Microsoft Sentinel | Moving an existing security information and event management deployment into or across Sentinel | Migration services intended to strengthen security operations center capabilities and accelerate onboarding |
| Identity and access management | Microsoft Entra and Zero Trust principles | Authenticating users, governing identities, and securing access to resources | Authentication, identity governance, and integrations intended to simplify access while protecting customer resources |
| Extended detection and response | Microsoft Defender | Preventing, detecting, investigating, and responding to threats across multiple layers | Coverage described across email, identity, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, and data |
How each service is intended to work
Compliance readiness with Purview
Kyndryl says its Purview-based services can automatically assess and manage compliance across multicloud and hybrid-cloud estates. Security experts are then described as recommending relevant assessments and advising on policies and operating procedures designed to mitigate compliance risk. The announcement does not identify specific regulations, jurisdictions, audit certifications, or a guaranteed compliance result.
#1 Best Overall
Sentinel SIEM migration
The migration offering is aimed at organizations that already use Microsoft Sentinel or need help moving an existing Sentinel security information and event management implementation. Kyndryl presents the work as a way to improve security operations center capabilities and speed onboarding. No migration timetable, reduction in staffing, detection-rate improvement, or other quantified operational result is provided.
Entra identity and access management
The Entra services apply Zero Trust principles to authentication, identity governance, and integrations that secure access to customer resources. The stated goals include simpler authentication and a better user experience, but those are intended benefits in the announcement, not independently measured outcomes. Organizations would still need to define identity sources, privileged-access controls, lifecycle processes, applications, and responsibility for ongoing administration.
Defender XDR
The Defender-based services are described as extending prevention, detection, and response across email, identity, SaaS applications, cloud infrastructure, and data. In practice, the scope of a deployment would depend on which Defender capabilities, data sources, response playbooks, and operating services a customer selects; the announcement does not specify a universal package.
What an enterprise buyer would need to confirm
The release establishes the announced capabilities, not the commercial terms or a standard implementation. Before evaluating the offering, a buyer should obtain written answers on:

- Which countries, cloud regions, editions, and customer environments are supported.
- Whether the engagement is advisory, implementation-only, co-managed, or fully managed, and which team owns 24/7 monitoring and incident response.
- Exactly which Purview, Sentinel, Entra, and Defender licenses and features are included or billed separately.
- Migration prerequisites, data-retention requirements, integrations, testing responsibilities, and rollback procedures.
- Supported regulations and the evidence or reports produced for an audit.
- Service-level commitments, escalation paths, incident-notification procedures, and data-processing terms.
- One-time implementation fees, recurring managed-service charges, Microsoft licensing costs, and any usage-based charges.
- How success will be measured, since the announcement supplies no independently verified performance results.
What the announcement does not establish
- It does not publish pricing or provide a consumer purchase option.
- It does not confirm current availability by country or show that every capability is packaged identically for every customer.
- It does not report named customer outcomes, quantified savings, migration-time reductions, detection improvements, or compliance pass rates.
- It does not rank Kyndryl against other security providers.
Michelle Weston, Kyndryl’s Vice President of Security & Resiliency, said the partnership is intended to provide robust security capabilities and support customers’ regulatory readiness. Ricardo Davila, Senior Director at Kyndryl at Microsoft, said the companies aim to help businesses protect critical assets so they can operate with confidence. Both statements describe the speakers’ views about the partnership, not independently verified results.

This was a November 14, 2024 announcement of four enterprise services built around Microsoft Purview, Sentinel, Entra, and Defender and delivered through Kyndryl’s services organization and Kyndryl Bridge. It gives prospective customers a map of the problems the partnership is intended to address, but a current buyer still needs to verify availability, scope, licensing, pricing, responsibilities, and measurable outcomes in a specific proposal.
