That figure should not be read as Presidio’s annual revenue, profit, or audited recognized revenue. Public reporting supports a narrower description: transaction value processed through AWS Marketplace in deals where Presidio participated.
The important lesson is operational. Presidio appears to have built a specialized procurement, contracting, renewal and services business around AWS Marketplace rather than simply posting products in an online catalog.
What the $1 billion milestone actually means
Corace’s April 30, 2025 statement does not disclose the accounting composition of the milestone. It does not establish how much was Presidio revenue, gross bookings, third-party software, professional services, renewals, or bundled agreements. It also does not specify the exact period covered or whether every transaction involved Presidio as seller of record.
The defensible wording is therefore “more than $1 billion in cumulative AWS Marketplace sales,” attributed to Presidio through Corace’s interview. Treating that number as profit or annual sales would overstate the evidence.

Why Marketplace became a strategic channel
AWS Marketplace lets an eligible purchase appear on a customer’s AWS bill. AWS describes its channel programs as a way to reduce procurement friction and support negotiated transactions; see AWS Marketplace channel programs and the pricing overview.
- Customers can consolidate eligible software and services purchases with existing AWS billing.
- Private offers can carry negotiated prices, payment schedules and legal terms.
- Vendor onboarding and payment administration can be coordinated through an established AWS account relationship.
- Large renewals and multi-year commitments can be evaluated alongside cloud-spend plans.
None of these benefits is automatic. Whether spending counts toward an AWS commitment, produces a discount or lowers total cost depends on the product, contract, program, geography and negotiated terms.
The five-part Presidio operating model
1. A dedicated Marketplace team
Corace described personnel dedicated to Marketplace transactions within Presidio’s broader cloud organization. The team supports first-time buyers as well as enterprises planning recurring and multi-year purchases. Its work includes education, offer construction, contract review, vendor coordination, procurement support, renewals and post-sale assistance.
2. Education before the first transaction
For a new buyer, Presidio can explain account authorization, security and approval requirements, identify who may accept an offer, and show how billing and purchase-order controls fit together. This removes process uncertainty that a standard catalog listing cannot solve.

3. Software-estate and renewal analysis
Presidio’s reported approach is selective, not “put every contract on Marketplace.” It reviews renewal dates, contract size, product eligibility, payment terms, incentives, deployment model and legal requirements. Large renewals may be grouped into a strategic buying program, while smaller or unsuitable agreements remain separate or outside Marketplace.
4. Complex private offers
Enterprise agreements often combine products, quantities, tiers, business units, services, support and multi-year provisions. AWS’s Channel Partner Private Offers allow an authorized channel partner to create a customer-specific offer using an ISV’s product. Terms can include customized pricing, duration, EULA language and additional services.
5. Procurement, billing and financing integration
Presidio’s reported “point, click, order” proposition keeps a conventional quote and purchase-order process where the customer requires it, then routes the accepted commercial offer through AWS Marketplace. Presidio also discussed prepayment versus annual-payment structures through its finance company. Financing costs and reseller economics must be included in any total-cost comparison.
How a typical transaction can work
The following is a generalized flow based on Presidio’s description and AWS documentation; individual deals can differ.
- The customer identifies a software, SaaS or services requirement.
- Presidio compares direct procurement with a Marketplace structure, considering price, eligibility, commitments, legal terms and services.
- Where CPPO is used, the ISV authorizes Presidio to resell and provides the applicable commercial authorization.
- Presidio prepares the quote, scope and payment terms and creates or coordinates the private offer.
- The offer is targeted to the customer’s designated AWS account. AWS documentation explains private-offer creation and account targeting at this overview.
- An authorized buyer reviews the seller, publisher, expiration date, pricing and terms, then accepts the offer through AWS Marketplace.
- AWS bills and collects according to the Marketplace arrangement, with funds disbursed under the applicable commercial structure.
- Presidio and the vendor handle implementation, support, renewal and any contracted optimization work.
A private offer does not eliminate internal controls. AWS buyer documentation notes account targeting, acceptance, renewals and expiration behavior; an offer sent to the wrong account or an account with unsuitable permissions may not be visible or acceptible.
Public listings, private offers and CPPO are different
| Mechanism | What it provides | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Public listing | Standardized product, pricing and terms | Repeatable purchases with little negotiation |
| Vendor private offer | Negotiated terms from the ISV or publisher | Custom price, duration, payment or EULA |
| Channel Partner Private Offer | Authorized partner resells the ISV product and can maintain the customer relationship | Complex enterprise deals with reseller services |
| Professional-services offer | Consulting, migration, training or implementation purchased through Marketplace | Services attached to software or cloud projects |
AWS explains CPPO mechanics at AWS Marketplace Partners. The channel partner may become the seller of record and is responsible for commercial coordination, support and renewals within its agreement.
Why complex enterprise agreements were the wedge
Standard listings work best for standardized products. Large enterprise contracts rarely are: they may contain several products, custom quantities, tiered pricing, deployment-specific rights, services, support and renewal provisions. Presidio’s value is the work before acceptance—negotiating, modeling, documenting and routing those terms—so the final purchase can use Marketplace billing without pretending the agreement is simple.
The customer economics: possible benefits and real trade-offs
Presidio’s value proposition can involve several economic levers:

Rank #4
- Vendor-negotiated Marketplace discounts or incentives.
- Potential treatment of eligible software spend within an AWS commitment program.
- Consolidated billing and fewer vendor-onboarding cycles.
- Better visibility into renewals and contract expirations.
- Payment timing or financing flexibility.
- Implementation, support and managed services attached to the purchase.
The correct comparison is not simply direct price versus Marketplace price. A buyer should compare:
Direct vendor price + procurement labor + support and implementation costs versus Marketplace price + reseller markup + applicable Marketplace economics + financing cost + operational savings.
Marketplace can cost more when a direct discount is larger, a reseller markup offsets savings, financing is expensive, or the customer does not benefit from AWS billing or commitment alignment.
How AWS, the ISV and Presidio divide the work
| Participant | Role |
|---|---|
| AWS | Provides Marketplace infrastructure, billing, private-offer mechanisms and payment collection/disbursement. |
| ISV or manufacturer | Owns the technology, authorizes resale where required, and establishes product and wholesale terms. |
| Presidio | Advises the customer, coordinates vendors, structures offers, provides services and manages commercial and renewal relationships. |
CRN identified Presidio activity involving its own services and products from manufacturers including Cisco and Pure Storage, while also referencing Palo Alto Networks and hundreds of manufacturers. Those examples should not be assumed to use an identical listing or CPPO structure.

Where professional services fit
AWS allows consulting, migration management, training and related services to be listed and sold through private offers. The relevant documentation is AWS Marketplace professional services products. This gives Presidio a way to attach implementation and advisory work to a software transaction, rather than treating product procurement and services as entirely separate processes.
Marketplace fees and margin discipline
AWS’s documented seller fees vary by product and offer type. Examples in the current fee schedule include:
| Offer or product type | Documented fee |
|---|---|
| Public SaaS offer | 3% |
| Public server, AMI, container or machine-learning product | 20% |
| Private offer below $1 million | 3% |
| Private offer from $1 million to below $10 million | 2% |
| Private offer at or above $10 million | 1.5% |
| Renewal | 1.5% |
| Channel Partner Private Offer | Applicable listing fee plus a 0.5 percentage-point uplift |
| Professional-services private offer | 0.5% |
These are seller-side fee examples from AWS Marketplace listing fees, not a promise that every Presidio or customer transaction uses the same rate. Partners must model fees, discounts, services cost and margin before promising savings.
What other resellers can reproduce
- Assign specialists who understand Marketplace operations, legal terms and AWS-account administration.
- Audit each customer’s software estate, renewal calendar and AWS-spend commitments.
- Segment purchases into public-listing, private-offer, CPPO, professional-services and direct-procurement paths.
- Build a repeatable process for ISV resale authorizations, quote approval and account targeting.
- Connect quotes, purchase orders, billing records and renewal ownership.
- Measure gross margin, cycle time, renewal retention, implementation revenue and customer total cost.
Presidio’s scale, manufacturer relationships, enterprise customer base, finance capability and accumulated transaction data are harder to replicate. A smaller partner can copy the operating discipline without copying the volume.
Where the model can fail
- Accounting confusion: A transaction milestone is not automatically recognized revenue or profit.
- Wrong AWS account: Private offers are account-specific and may be invisible to the intended buyer if routed incorrectly.
- False savings assumptions: Discounts, commitments, markup, fees and financing can produce different outcomes deal by deal.
- Unmanageable contract terms: Some legal, tax, currency or deployment requirements do not fit Marketplace mechanics.
- Renewal gaps: An agreement can expire, renew, upgrade or move to public pricing depending on its terms; ownership and calendar controls are essential.
- Overpromised procurement simplicity: Marketplace can streamline acceptance and billing while customers still require purchase orders and internal approvals.
What the milestone says about modern reselling
Presidio’s reported result illustrates a shift from reselling individual products to orchestrating a customer’s commercial lifecycle: software selection, vendor authorization, private-offer construction, AWS billing, implementation, financing and renewal. The catalog is only the visible layer. The scalable capability is the specialized operating system behind it.
For buyers, the practical question is whether a Marketplace transaction improves the complete economics and control environment—not whether it carries an AWS logo. For ISVs and partners, the opportunity is to make complex enterprise agreements easier to buy without losing pricing discipline, contractual clarity or renewal accountability.
