Both included a five-year guarantee for the qualifying price of talk, text and T-Mobile 5G smartphone data. That is not a freeze on your entire bill: taxes, device payments, add-ons, discounts, third-party services and other charges can still change.
This guide separates the launch promises from current terms and explains which plan, if either, makes financial sense.
What T-Mobile announced
T-Mobile’s April 22, 2025 announcement introduced Experience More and Experience Beyond, refreshed Metro by T-Mobile with four plans, and promoted switching offers including Family Freedom. The two Experience plans launched April 23, 2025. T-Mobile described the guarantee as protection for the qualifying wireless service price for at least five years while the customer remains eligible.
The announcement’s launch-period details are not automatically the current 2026 terms. Check the live Experience plan page, checkout disclosures and your order confirmation before changing service.

Experience More versus Experience Beyond

| Current base price | Not stated in the supplied official disclosures; verify the live checkout price | Not stated in the supplied official disclosures; verify the live checkout price |
| Hotspot at launch | 60GB high-speed mobile hotspot data | 250GB high-speed data monthly, then 600kbps |
| Canada and Mexico | Benefits depend on current plan terms | 30GB high-speed data monthly, then 256kbps |
| International data | International benefits associated with the plan, subject to terms | 15GB high-speed data in more than 215 countries and destinations, then 256kbps |

| Entertainment and travel | Apple TV+, Netflix and Magenta Status benefits at launch, with activation requirements | Streaming, travel and Magenta Status benefits at launch |
| Five-year guarantee | Yes, for qualifying service charges | Yes, for qualifying service charges |
T-Mobile advertised Experience More as $5 less per line per month than Go5G Plus at launch. That was an April 2025 comparison, not a guaranteed 2026 price. Experience Beyond is generally aimed at heavy hotspot users, frequent upgraders and travelers who can use its larger allowances.
Choose Experience More when
- You want premium streaming and roaming features but do not need annual phone upgrades.
- Your hotspot use is moderate rather than hundreds of gigabytes monthly.
- You value a lower tier while still wanting the Experience guarantee.
Choose Experience Beyond when
- You regularly tether laptops, tablets or other devices.
- You travel in Canada, Mexico or internationally and would otherwise buy data passes.
- You upgrade phones frequently and can use the annual-upgrade feature.
- Satellite connectivity and premium travel benefits have real value for your household.
What the five-year guarantee protects
T-Mobile’s current disclosures describe the guarantee as applying primarily to the monthly price of talk, text and T-Mobile 5G smartphone data. Certain attached wearable, tablet or mobile-internet data charges may also qualify under the account’s terms. The practical reading is: the eligible base service rate is protected for five years, not the total invoice.
The guarantee starts when you activate a new eligible account or switch an existing account to an eligible Experience plan. Adding a line later or moving between Experience plans does not restart the five-year period. The specific published rate-plan price applicable when you enroll is the relevant protected price, rather than an earlier price seen in an advertisement.

What it does not protect
- Taxes and regulatory fees.
- Device installments, insurance and other equipment charges.
- Plan add-ons, per-use charges and optional speed or equipment upgrades.
- Third-party services, including some streaming, international-data and satellite products.
- AutoPay discounts, free-line credits, trade-in credits, device-promotion credits and other promotional discounts.
- Network-management policies, congestion-related treatment or resulting speeds.
- Future wireless generations or services added outside the qualifying rate plan.
A phone promotion can therefore end even while the qualifying plan rate remains protected. Credits commonly depend on keeping the line active, maintaining a qualifying plan and meeting the promotion’s other conditions.
How this differs from older T-Mobile promises
“Price lock” is not one universal T-Mobile product. The current Price Lock FAQ distinguishes the Five-Year Price Guarantee from older protections:
| Protection | Who it generally concerns | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| Five-Year Price Guarantee | Customers on qualifying Experience plans and other qualifying products | Protects eligible service pricing for at least five years under current terms |
| Last Month Price Lock | Certain customers activating or switching January 18, 2024–April 22, 2025 | If the applicable price rises and the customer leaves, T-Mobile says it will cover the final month’s recurring service charges when notified within 60 days |
| Original Price Lock | Certain accounts activated April 28, 2022–January 17, 2024 | Separate eligibility, conditions and remedy |
| Un-contract Promise | Some accounts predating April 28, 2022 | Older terms apply; it is not automatically a five-year freeze |
Before leaving a grandfathered plan, find its exact protection in your account documents. Switching to Experience can provide a new guarantee but may terminate older discounts or benefits.

Legacy-plan migrations in 2026
Reports in June and July 2026 described T-Mobile retiring or migrating some Simple Choice, ONE, Magenta and grandfathered Sprint accounts. Android Central and Tom’s Guide reported increases of up to about $6 per line per month for some customers, while others saw no increase. T-Mobile said affected customers would receive newer benefits and a five-year guarantee.
This situation is different from a voluntary switch. A notice that T-Mobile is retiring your plan, a qualifying base-rate increase, and a change to taxes, fees, add-ons or credits are separate events. Read the notice and account-specific terms before accepting or rejecting a migration; the guarantee does not promise that every legacy plan will remain available forever.
Calculate the real cost before switching
- Record the proposed base rate per line after AutoPay and other recurring discounts.
- Add estimated taxes and regulatory fees for your location.
- List every free-line, trade-in, device and service credit and confirm whether it transfers.
- Price any streaming, international, satellite or hotspot services you would otherwise purchase separately.
- Check whether canceling a line, paying off a phone early or changing plans ends promotional credits.
- Save the order confirmation showing the qualifying plan, enrollment date and guarantee language.
For a simple break-even test, compare the higher monthly base price with the value of benefits you would actually buy. A guarantee is most valuable if you expect to stay several years and are primarily concerned about base-rate increases; it is less valuable when most of your bill is devices, taxes, credits or optional services.

Alternatives worth comparing
Compare total cost and network suitability, not headline pricing alone. Metro by T-Mobile, Mint Mobile, Visible and US Mobile can cost less for customers comfortable with prepaid billing and fewer postpaid perks. AT&T and Verizon remain direct premium-postpaid competitors.
Evaluate hotspot limits, premium-data treatment, international access, taxes and fees, phone promotions, coverage at home and work, and the cost of switching. T-Mobile’s 5G Home Internet may suit homes with adequate wireless capacity, while T-Mobile Fiber is a wired option only at eligible addresses. Neither replaces a mobile-plan comparison.
Questions to ask T-Mobile
- What is my exact per-line base rate after every recurring discount?
- Which existing free-line and device credits survive the switch?
- Is the five-year guarantee documented on my account and order confirmation?
- Are satellite, streaming and international benefits permanent or promotional?
- What happens to the guarantee and credits if I cancel a line or change plans?
- Does my current plan have an older protection that is more favorable?
Bottom line
Experience More and Experience Beyond offer a protected qualifying service rate, not a frozen bill. More is the sensible starting point for moderate hotspot use and premium benefits without paying for every top-tier feature. Beyond is justified mainly by heavy hotspot use, frequent upgrades, substantial international travel or satellite needs. Existing customers should compare the complete bill and legacy protections before switching, especially when T-Mobile—not the customer—is retiring an older plan.
