Edra, founded by two Palantir veterans, emerges with $30M to teach enterprise AI how companies work

Edra emerged from public stealth with more than $30 million in total funding to build a continuously updated knowledge layer for enterprise AI agents. The founders’ Palantir background and Sequoia-led Series A are notable, but the public product evidence is still early.

Edra, a New York enterprise-AI startup founded by former Palantir employees Eugen Alpeza and Yannis Karamanlakis, announced on March 18, 2026, that it was coming out of public stealth with more than $30 million in total funding. Sequoia Capital led the Series A; 8VC, A* and HubSpot Ventures are also associated with the financing.

The headline needs one qualification: this was not necessarily a single $30 million Series A. Axios reported a $6.5 million seed led by 8VC and A*, followed by a $23.8 million Series A led by Sequoia, or about $30.3 million altogether.

What Edra is building

Edra is positioning itself as a context and process layer for enterprise AI agents. Its software connects to operational systems, examines how employees actually handle work, and turns that evidence into instructions that people and AI systems can inspect and use.

The company says it can work with data from ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk, Salesforce, Outlook and existing AI implementations. Relevant records can include tickets, CRM entries, correspondence, agent logs and escalation histories. Edra’s stated aim is to discover recurring decisions, exceptions and workarounds that are rarely captured in formal documentation.

Those findings become a knowledge library, process instructions and what Edra calls agent skills. Humans can review or teach the system in plain English, while the knowledge layer is intended to change as the organization’s work changes. Edra describes this as “white-box” knowledge because the instructions and decision logic are meant to be visible and auditable. That is the company’s product description, not an independent finding that the outputs are always correct.

The enterprise problem behind the pitch

Most companies have plenty of operational data but an incomplete account of how work is really done. Official procedures may be out of date, while escalation paths and exceptions live in employees’ memories, old tickets, email threads and conversations.

A general-purpose model can reason about a task, but it cannot reliably follow a company-specific rule that was never documented or that differs from the written policy. Edra’s thesis is that the evidence needed to reconstruct those rules already exists in enterprise records. Automating that discovery could reduce the consulting, documentation and forward-deployed engineering work normally required to make an AI agent useful inside a particular business.

How Edra’s workflow is supposed to operate

  1. Connect data sources. The organization provides access to relevant ticketing, CRM, email, support and AI-system records.
  2. Study operational history. Edra looks for repeated actions, decisions, exceptions, escalation patterns and outcomes.
  3. Generate process knowledge. The system converts those observations into readable procedures and executable instructions.
  4. Review and correct. Employees can inspect the proposed knowledge, resolve errors and add guidance in ordinary language.
  5. Supply context to agents. Other AI systems can use the resulting instructions when handling IT, technical-support or customer-support work.
  6. Update over time. New work is intended to refresh the knowledge layer instead of leaving the organization with a static manual.

This workflow also defines an important boundary. Discovering a procedure is not the same as safely executing it. Buyers need to establish which Edra features recommend documentation, which generate instructions for another agent, and which—if any—can take actions directly.

Who founded Edra?

Eugen Alpeza

Sequoia says Alpeza spent seven years at Palantir and helped build its U.S. commercial go-to-market operation, including work with AT&T.

Yannis Karamanlakis

Karamanlakis worked on Palantir’s forward-deployed AI efforts, the kind of work that places technical systems alongside customer teams and adapts them to real operating environments.

The founders say they met at university roughly 13 years before Edra’s 2026 launch. Their Palantir experience is relevant because Edra is tackling the difficult implementation layer between a general AI model and a customer’s specific processes. It is evidence of operating experience, not proof that Edra’s product performs as promised.

Sequoia’s company profile lists Edra as founded in 2024. TechCrunch’s announcement provides additional founder background.

What “coming out of stealth” means here

Edra was not publicly prominent before March 2026, but the announcement describes a company that already had enterprise customers and a working product. “Coming out of stealth” therefore means moving into public visibility, not launching with no users or no deployments.

The company’s initial markets are IT service management, technical support and customer support. It promotes a “Zero-Setup Pilot” intended to show a company’s processes within one week, but that marketing promise should not be read as evidence that a production rollout requires no integration, security review or governance work.

Customers and the public evidence so far

Publicly named or referenced customers include HubSpot, ASOS, Cushman & Wakefield and Ergeon. easyJet appears in TechCrunch’s syndicated coverage. These references do not establish that each company uses every Edra module or has publicly endorsed every product claim.

HubSpot

HubSpot Ventures says HubSpot’s Customer Support organization used Edra to analyze support-agent logs and escalation data. The analysis identified recurring patterns and undocumented knowledge, which informed suggested documentation edits and new knowledge-base articles. HubSpot described goals that included improving documentation quality and reducing escalations.

No public announcement supplies an independently audited percentage reduction in escalations, cost savings, resolution time or automation rate. The available account is a customer and investor statement.

ASOS

Edra’s customer-story material says ASOS’s IT knowledge-base coverage increased from 30% to 90%. That figure should be understood as Edra’s reported measure of knowledge-base coverage; the public material does not define the metric well enough to treat it as a universal productivity or service-quality benchmark.

Why Sequoia’s investment matters—and what it does not prove

Sequoia’s investment thesis is that capable AI agents still need continuously updated, company-specific context. Its investment article presents Edra as a way to create, deploy and update executable enterprise knowledge.

That is a meaningful signal because Sequoia, 8VC, A* and HubSpot Ventures are backing a clearly defined enterprise problem. It is not independent product validation. Three claims should remain separate:

  • Investor thesis: generic AI capability is not enough without operational context.
  • Edra’s thesis: a system can infer and maintain that context from business records.
  • Open question: whether those inferences remain accurate, secure and economical at production scale.

The financing, stated precisely

Component Amount Reported lead or attribution
Seed $6.5 million 8VC and A*, according to Axios
Series A $23.8 million Sequoia Capital, according to Axios
Total Approximately $30.3 million Edra described the total as more than $30 million

Edra’s launch announcement lists Sequoia, 8VC, A* and HubSpot Ventures among the investors. The accurate shorthand is “more than $30 million in total funding” or “a $30 million-plus financing,” not “Sequoia gave Edra $30 million.”

Where Edra could be useful

  • Organizations with large volumes of IT or customer-support records.
  • Teams already using ticketing, CRM and collaboration systems.
  • Businesses whose internal documentation is inconsistent, incomplete or stale.
  • Companies that need agents to follow local procedures rather than generic best practices.
  • Environments where traceability, human review and process versioning matter.
  • Operations with enough recurring volume to justify enterprise integration and governance.

Small teams with little historical data, highly standardized work or no capacity for access controls and integration projects may get less value from a process-inference layer.

The risks buyers should test

Bad records can create plausible errors

Messy tickets and inconsistent employee behavior can produce instructions that sound sensible but are wrong. A frequently observed workaround may violate the approved policy.

Historical behavior can become stale

Processes change. A production deployment needs recency weighting, policy approval, conflict resolution, exception review, versioning and rollback rather than blindly treating old records as current truth.

Access creates a broad security surface

Connecting support systems, CRM data and email raises questions about permissions, sensitive records, customer secrets, employee data, retention, residency, encryption, deletion and whether data is used to train models. Public Edra materials do not establish detailed answers to those questions.

Auditability is not correctness

An inspectable instruction can still encode flawed reasoning. Buyers should ask whether every recommendation links back to source records, records approvals, exposes contradictions and preserves an immutable audit trail.

Integration and ROI remain unquantified

Edra does not publish standard pricing, contract sizes, gross retention, independent benchmarks or independently verified savings. The public material also does not establish whether the company primarily supplies context to other agents or executes high-impact actions itself.

How Edra compares with adjacent platforms

Platform Natural fit Key distinction
ServiceNow Organizations standardized on enterprise ITSM and workflow orchestration Broad system-of-record and governance platform; implementation may be heavier
Jira Service Management Teams already centered on Jira and engineering workflows Strong issue-tracking and ITSM ecosystem rather than Edra’s process-inference focus
Zendesk Customer-support organizations Support-centric ticketing and automation
Salesforce Companies whose service processes and customer data run in Salesforce Existing CRM distribution may make native AI capabilities preferable
Glean Enterprise search and employee knowledge discovery More search-oriented; Edra emphasizes operational process and agent instructions
Guru Human-curated internal knowledge Potentially simpler for maintained documentation; less focused on inferring procedures from records

These products are alternatives or complements, not one-for-one substitutes. A buyer should compare the source systems, approval model, execution rights, audit controls and measurable outcome—not just the AI label.

What to watch next

  • Public pricing and contract structure.
  • Additional integrations and supported data volumes.
  • Quantified, customer-approved outcomes with clear definitions.
  • Security, privacy and compliance documentation.
  • Evidence of deployment times and retention at scale.
  • Whether Edra expands beyond ITSM and support into a broader horizontal platform.
  • Whether it executes actions or mainly supplies context to other agents.

Sequoia’s broader platform opportunity is an ambition, not an established market position.

The Bottom Line

Edra has a credible founding team, strong investors and a sharply defined enterprise problem: turning scattered operational history into usable instructions for AI agents. Its named customers and early case studies are encouraging, but public proof remains largely company- and investor-provided. The decisive test is whether Edra can keep inferred processes accurate, governed and auditable without adding a new layer of hidden operational or security risk.
