HPE is not merging Aruba Central and Juniper Mist into one console. Its “cross-pollination” strategy selectively moves capabilities between the two platforms while they continue to operate separately. Marvis self-driving operations and Large Experience Models are moving toward Aruba Central; Aruba client profiling and organizational-insight functions are moving toward Mist. A June 16, 2026 update added support for HPE Networking CX wired switches in Mist and expanded Marvis capabilities in Central.
What “cross-pollination” means
HPE’s plan is functional convergence, not a completed product merger or a rebranding exercise. The company says it is building shared microservices and an AI foundation that can be “developed once, deployed everywhere,” then placing particular capabilities on the platform best suited to a use case.
For customers, that means two customer-facing management environments remain in place for now: HPE Aruba Networking Central and HPE Juniper Networking Mist. Their operator experiences may gradually converge, but policies, APIs, telemetry, licensing and workflows should not be assumed to be interchangeable.
The original explanation came from Rami Rahim, then HPE Networking’s executive vice president and general manager, in reporting published December 3, 2025 by ITPro. HPE said initial capability changes were expected in the first quarter of 2026.

What HPE announced first
Juniper capabilities moving toward Aruba Central
- Marvis: Juniper’s AI operations and self-driving framework.
- Large Experience Models (LEMs): analysis of application experiences, including services such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
- Agentic AIOps: automated insight, prediction and remediation functions described by HPE as self-driving operations.
HPE says its generalized LEM combines application data with digital-twin synthetic data to detect, fix and predict video-call problems. Its August 2025 announcement describes the Mist and LEM technology, while its December explanation sets out the shared-microservices approach: HPE’s August 2025 release and HPE’s December 2025 technical blog.
Aruba capabilities moving toward Mist
- Client profiling to identify devices and their behavior.
- Organizational insights for broader visibility into users, devices and network operations.
- Global NOC or unified visibility: Aruba-style views intended to complement Mist operations.
- Agentic Mesh: Aruba technology HPE identified for Mist’s AI-native operations.
HPE’s December 2025 product announcement discusses these Aruba-to-Mist capabilities alongside its broader AI-native networking plans: HPE’s December 2025 release.
What changed by June 2026
HPE’s June 16, 2026 update shows that the strategy is continuing in both directions rather than being a one-time software transfer. HPE says the Marvis self-driving framework is being introduced into Aruba Central, with AI-driven insights and self-healing automation. The same announcement says HPE Networking CX wired access switches are being supported in Mist.

The hardware strategy: flexibility without universal interchangeability
Dual-platform Wi-Fi
The AP-723H is documented as manageable through either Mist or Aruba Central. That can protect a hardware purchase if an organization later changes its control plane. The model is documented in Juniper’s Wi-Fi 7 guide and HPE’s 720H Series QuickSpecs.
Dual-platform does not mean a free, instantaneous switch. Buyers still need to confirm subscriptions, provisioning, certificates, policy models, software releases and supported features. Wi-Fi 7 deployments may also require adequate multigigabit uplinks, cabling and 802.3bt power.

Implications for current customers
Aruba customers
You may gain selected Marvis, LEM and self-driving functions without abandoning Central. Before planning around them, ask which Central edition and release receive each function, whether it is included in your subscription, where telemetry is processed, and whether it works across your AP and switch portfolio.
Mist customers
Mist customers may gain Aruba profiling, organizational insight and CX switch support while retaining Mist and Marvis workflows. Confirm the supported CX families and software versions, any telemetry or feature limitations on non-Juniper hardware, and whether current licenses and APIs remain unchanged.
New buyers
Choose the control plane first, based on installed base, staff expertise, deployment model and required automation. Then validate wireless radios and location features, wired capabilities, IoT and SASE needs, data-center or service-provider requirements, subscription terms and support ownership. Do not select solely from an AI feature list.

Risks behind the convergence
- Platform ambiguity: two consoles can create uncertainty over roadmaps, licensing and support ownership.
- Migration effort: shared microservices do not automatically port configurations, policies, APIs, historical dashboards or alert baselines.
- Feature asymmetry: a named capability may behave differently or support different hardware on each platform.
- Data governance: ask where client, application and synthetic telemetry is processed, retained and used.
- Commercial lock-in: portable hardware can reduce hardware lock-in while increasing reliance on HPE management subscriptions.
- Channel impact: partners may need to support both Aruba and Juniper product families and define escalation boundaries for mixed deployments.
- Marketing versus delivery: “agentic” and “self-driving” describe HPE’s strategy; the operational value depends on a specific generally available feature, approval model and reversible remediation.
A practical buying and migration checklist
- Inventory Aruba, Juniper and third-party APs, switches, routers, IoT devices and authentication systems.
- Record the current Central or Mist edition, software release, subscription term, support contract and cloud or on-premises deployment.
- Request a written, model-specific compatibility and licensing matrix from HPE or your channel partner.
- Confirm whether each desired capability is generally available, preview-only, region-limited or tied to a new subscription.
- Pilot with representative wired, wireless, IoT and authentication policies before changing a production control plane.
- Test rollback, monitoring-history effects and support escalation across mixed hardware.
- Do not replace functioning hardware solely because of the announcements.
- For new Wi-Fi, consider a dual-platform AP only when future platform flexibility justifies its cost and operational complexity.
- Validate PoE, uplink speed, radio, antenna, location and regulatory requirements independently of management-platform portability.
- Put support boundaries, data handling and renewal terms in the contract.
Why HPE is doing this
HPE is combining Aruba’s enterprise campus and wireless footprint with Juniper’s Mist AI operations, routing and data-center portfolio. Its stated objective is an AI-native networking portfolio spanning campus, edge, data center and AI factories, supported by HPE’s broader compute, storage, security and hybrid-cloud business. The strategy is described in HPE’s shared-microservices blog and the June 2026 update.
The Bottom Line
HPE is converging capabilities and, in selected cases, hardware support faster than it is collapsing Aruba Central and Mist into one product. Treat cross-pollination as a source of additional choice—not proof of universal compatibility. Verify availability, licensing, telemetry handling and support model feature by feature before renewing, migrating or buying new equipment.
