Visible customers reportedly received a $5 credit toward a subsequent month of service after Verizon’s January 2026 cellular outage. That was one-quarter of the $20 account credit reportedly offered to Verizon’s direct customers. Customer reports suggest the Visible offer was unevenly distributed, and it should be treated as a historical goodwill response—not a promotion that is still guaranteed in August 2026.
What happened during the outage?
In January 2026, a broad Verizon network disruption left many customers without cellular service; some phones displayed an SOS indicator for several hours. Available reporting does not establish a definitive technical cause. Because Visible operates on Verizon’s 5G and 4G LTE networks, a network-level failure could affect customers of both brands, even though they use different retail and billing systems. Reports from the period described the disruption and Verizon’s separate compensation response.
What Visible reportedly offered
Reports cited by coverage of the customer messages said Visible offered $5 toward a subsequent month of service. The message reportedly apologized for the disruption and said the credit could be redeemed after January 16, 2026, when paying online by credit card.
This was a future-service bill or goodwill credit, not a cash refund, a free month, or evidence of a standing service-level guarantee. The reported article was published January 16 and updated January 19, 2026; the redemption date has passed.

Was the $5 credit automatic?
There is no clearly documented, public eligibility policy showing that every affected Visible subscriber qualified. Customer reports described different outcomes:
- Some customers received the message without contacting support.
- Others said they received the credit only after contacting Visible customer service.
- At least one reported recipient said they had not personally experienced an outage.
- Other customers may have received no offer.
Those accounts point to an uneven rollout or targeted customer-service accommodation, but they do not prove Visible’s internal eligibility rules. The available reporting does not establish whether selection depended on location, account type, usage, verified outage impact, or an internal customer list.
How it compared with Verizon’s reported offer
| Brand | Reported amount | What is known about delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Verizon direct service | $20 account credit | Reportedly offered to affected direct customers; claim or request requirements were not confirmed by a first-party policy in the available coverage. |
| Visible | $5 toward a subsequent month | Customer messages and support-assisted credits were reported; a universal automatic process was not established. |
The reported Visible amount was $15 lower, or 25% of Verizon’s reported credit. The evidence does not show that either amount was calculated pro rata by outage duration or monthly price, so the comparison is descriptive rather than a formal compensation formula. Shared ownership and network access do not require the two brands to use identical eligibility or credit policies.
How customers could have used the Visible offer
Based on the reported message, the credit was intended for a later service payment after January 16, 2026, using an online credit-card payment. The available evidence does not confirm whether debit cards, PayPal, autopay, annual plans, gift cards, or other payment methods qualified. It also does not identify a public claim URL, promo code, or expiration date.

What to check now
The offer is historical, and no available evidence establishes that Visible still honors it in August 2026. If you were a Visible customer during the outage:
- Search the email address, text messages, and account notifications connected to your Visible account.
- Review billing statements after January 2026 for a $5 adjustment, and verify that any promised credit was actually applied.
- If you believe you qualified but received nothing, contact Visible support and reference the January 2026 outage.
- Ask support to confirm current eligibility rather than assuming the old offer remains claimable.
- Keep a screenshot or copy of the original message if you still have it.
Visible’s current plan information says goodwill credits may not apply to an annual-plan purchase, but that current term does not prove how the January outage offer was handled for annual subscribers. See Visible’s plan terms for current conditions.

Do not confuse it with Visible’s referral credit
Visible separately advertises a $20 service credit for qualifying referrals through its Bring a Friend program, subject to that program’s limits and rules. That referral incentive is unrelated to the January outage response and should not be used as evidence that the $5 outage credit is currently available.
