In the March 14, 2024 roundup, the $7.99 item was Apple’s Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone adapter. The same list put Apple hardware at about $99 for AirPods, $189 for an Apple Watch SE, $249 for an older iPad, and $749.99 for a discounted MacBook Air. Those are historical prices, not live August 2026 offers; Amazon’s sale dates, inventory, sellers, coupons, and prices change by edition and configuration.
The original article covered a sale scheduled for March 20, 2024. Amazon’s 2025 Big Spring Sale ran March 25–31, and 2026 coverage reported the event underway March 25 with newer products such as M5 MacBooks, M4 iPads, AirPods Pro 3, and Apple Watch Series 11. Check the current listing before buying through the Amazon Apple Store.

What the $7.99 Apple deal actually was
Apple’s Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone adapter was listed at $7.99, an 11% reduction, in the March 14, 2024 AppleInsider roundup. It converts a Lightning port to a wired headphone jack. It is an accessory, not a major Apple device, and its usefulness is limited for buyers whose newer devices use USB-C. The listing’s condition, seller, fulfillment method, and warranty should always be checked rather than inferred from “official Apple” wording. See the original deal list.
Historical accessory prices under $100
| Product | Price | Reported saving | Why it mattered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lightning-to-3.5mm adapter | $7.99 | 11% | Cheapest Apple-branded item, but Lightning-only |
| Apple 20W USB-C power adapter | $14.99 | 21% | Useful for compatible iPhones, iPads and accessories |
| Apple Watch Sport Loop | $30.80 | 37% | Largest percentage reduction among the listed accessories |
| MagSafe Charger | $37.99 | $2 | Small dollar saving |
| Apple 35W dual USB-C adapter | $44 | 25% | Two-port charging convenience |
| MagSafe Duo | $94 | 27% | Higher-priced multi-device charger |
These figures came from the 2024 roundup and included offers from different retailers. A Best Buy or another reseller price should not be presented as an Amazon price. Percentage savings are also not the same as value: a $2 charger reduction is less meaningful than a 37% band discount unless you specifically need the charger.

AirPods: identify the model before comparing prices
The historical list showed AirPods 2 with a Lightning case at $99 ($30 off), AirPods 3 with Lightning at $149 ($20 off), AirPods Pro 2 with USB-C at about $199 ($50 off), and AirPods Max at $479.99 ($80 off). Later 2025 coverage listed AirPods 4 at $99.99 and AirPods Pro 2 at $169.99, demonstrating why an old model and price cannot be carried into a new sale article. MacRumors’ 2025 coverage provides that later comparison.
- Confirm Lightning or USB-C charging case.
- Separate standard AirPods from Pro models with active noise cancellation and from over-ear AirPods Max.
- Check whether the item is new, renewed, open-box or used.
- Verify the seller, Amazon fulfillment, warranty and any clipped coupon.
- Be cautious with discontinued models: a large markdown can reflect clearance rather than strong long-term value.
Apple Watch deals require size and connectivity details
The 2024 examples were a 40mm Apple Watch SE 2 at $189 ($60 off), 44mm SE 2 at $229 ($50 off), 41mm Series 9 at $349 ($50 off), 45mm Series 9 at $379 ($50 off), and Apple Watch Ultra 2 at $779.99 ($20 off). These prices do not establish current availability.
Compare GPS with GPS + Cellular, case size and material, included band size, carrier compatibility and any cellular activation requirement. A discounted older generation may be worthwhile when its features meet your needs, but not if the price is only slightly below a newer watch. Apple’s U.S. store listed Series 11 from $399 and SE 3 from $249 as first-party reference prices, not sale prices: Apple Store.

iPad prices depend on generation, storage and port
The historical offers were an iPad 9th generation, 64GB Wi-Fi, for $249 ($80 off); iPad 10th generation, 64GB Wi-Fi, for $349 ($100 off with an on-page coupon); and iPad Air 5, 64GB Wi-Fi, for $449 ($150 off). The coupon-dependent 10th-generation price was not an automatic discount.

Older iPads can be good value, but account for remaining software support, Lightning versus USB-C, and compatibility with Apple Pencil and keyboards. Never combine Wi-Fi and cellular pricing, or different storage tiers, in one comparison. In 2025, coverage listed the 11th-generation iPad from $328.86 and M3 iPad Air from $549. Apple’s store listed the M4 iPad Air from $749 as a reference point. Review the 2025 examples and Apple’s current lineup before deciding.
MacBook discounts are configuration-sensitive
The 2024 list included an M1 13-inch MacBook Air at $749.99 ($250 off), M2 13-inch Air at $899 ($100 off), M2 15-inch Air from $999 ($300 off), and MacBook Pro models from $899, with some prices limited to Best Buy Plus members. Certain M3 Air configurations were up to $150 off, with an additional $40 off AppleCare. Later 2025 reporting described discounts of up to $450 on selected M4 MacBook Pro configurations.

For any current listing, record the chip generation, screen size, RAM, SSD, GPU-core count where relevant, keyboard region, seller, warranty and membership requirement. A low price on an M1 or M2 model may be clearance stock with a shorter useful life than a newer chip. Apple’s U.S. store listed the M5 MacBook Air from $1,299 as a first-party reference price. See the 2025 MacBook examples.
AirTag: compare the cost per tracker
The 2024 examples were $24 for a one-pack and $78.99 for a four-pack at Best Buy, reported as $5 and $21 reductions respectively. 2025 coverage listed a four-pack at $69.99 and a one-pack at $24. Apple’s reference page showed $29 for one AirTag and $99 for four in the cited snapshot: Apple’s AirTag purchase page.
Four-packs normally lower the per-unit price, but only if you need four trackers. Confirm that the listing is genuine, identify the seller and ensure your iPhone and Find My setup are compatible.

Rank a deal by dollars saved, percentage reduction, price history, generation, configuration, seller reliability, warranty, required coupon or membership, compatibility, delivery date and stock. Do not let an “up to” percentage determine the recommendation without naming the exact product and configuration that earns it.

“Official Apple product” means Apple-branded merchandise; it does not automatically mean Apple sold it, Amazon sold it, or that it is new and sealed. Amazon, Apple, Best Buy, B&H, Adorama and other sellers appeared in the historical coverage, so identify the retailer in every deal row.
Apple direct offers predictable support, trade-in, engraving and warranty handling through Apple’s store, while Amazon may have a lower upfront price and faster delivery. Apple Certified Refurbished products are available at Apple Certified Refurbished; Apple describes them as backed by a one-year warranty. Amazon Prime information is at Amazon Prime. The 2025 announcement listed U.S. membership at $14.99 monthly or $139 annually, but those figures require rechecking for a current edition: Amazon’s 2025 announcement.

Price, stock and disclosure warning
Record the price-check time and state “at the time of publication.” Amazon prices can change during the day and by color, storage, connectivity, seller and delivery location. Coupons can disappear, inventory can sell out and delivery estimates can move. A deal article should also disclose affiliate relationships clearly; commissions must not determine rankings.
The Bottom Line
The $7.99 headline referred to a Lightning headphone adapter in a March 2024 pre-sale roundup. The meaningful buying decision is not the lowest advertised number but whether a specific, current Apple configuration has a verified price, reliable seller, appropriate warranty and compatibility for your devices. Treat the listed 2024 prices as history and recheck the live offer before paying.
