Short answer: Best Buy’s U.S. page was showing the $999.99 ROG Xbox Ally X with an “Add to cart” option in the latest indexed check. Microsoft’s store listed the same model at $999.99 but marked it “Out of stock.” ASUS’s U.S. availability index, however, showed model RC73XA as “In Stock on eShop,” so it is not accurate to say both official stores are unavailable without checking the ASUS product page and cart yourself.
Status checked: August 16, 2026. Handheld inventory can change by ZIP code, fulfillment method and time of day.
Where the ROG Xbox Ally X is listed
| Store | Observed price | Observed status | What to verify before paying |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best Buy | $999.99 | “Add to cart” on the indexed product page | Seller, shipping date, pickup eligibility and ZIP-code availability |
| Microsoft Store | $999.99 | Out of stock | Whether Microsoft later enables ordering or directs you to another seller |
| ASUS U.S. store | $999.99 | Availability filter says “In Stock on eShop” | Whether the individual product page and cart actually accept an order |
The Best Buy signal identifies the retailer behind the reported availability, but an indexed “Add to cart” control is not a nationwide inventory guarantee. A unit can be reserved by another customer, limited to a particular delivery address or store, or unavailable once you reach checkout.

Confirm the seller and fulfillment
Before submitting payment, make sure the page identifies the item as new and clearly states who sells and ships it. Best Buy search and product pages can contain marketplace offers; an offer above $999.99 is not the manufacturer’s listed U.S. price. Enter your ZIP code to see whether home delivery, store pickup, both or neither are available, then check the promised arrival date and the final total.
Do not treat a live page as a completed order
- Open the product page rather than relying on a search-result snippet.
- Select the new RC73XA listing, if multiple conditions or sellers appear.
- Enter your delivery ZIP code and select shipping or pickup.
- Review the seller, fulfillment, price, taxes, delivery date and return terms in the cart.
- Place the order only if the final checkout still shows the intended model and price.
Microsoft is out of stock
Microsoft’s U.S. product page lists the ROG Xbox Ally X at $999.99 but currently displays Out of stock. The page points shoppers toward Xbox.com or other purchase options when Microsoft cannot fulfill the order. That is a Microsoft-store status, not proof that every retailer lacks inventory.
ASUS availability does not match the headline
ASUS’s U.S. filtered availability page lists RC73XA as In Stock on eShop at $999.99. A category or filter result can lag behind the checkout system, so test the individual listing and add it to the cart before treating it as ready to ship. If the cart shows a preorder, delayed date or no checkout despite the index label, the index is not actionable stock.

These observations apply to the United States. ASUS pages for Canada and other regions can show different currencies, sellers and inventory; for example, ASUS’s Canadian buying page is separate from the U.S. store.
Identify the right Ally before buying
| Device | Model or distinguishing feature | Key configuration | Observed U.S. price |
|---|---|---|---|
| ROG Xbox Ally X (2025) | RC73XA | Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 80Wh battery | $999.99 |
| ROG Xbox Ally | Standard Xbox-branded model | Ryzen Z2 A, 16GB RAM | $599.99 on ASUS’s listed page |
| ROG Ally X | Older, non-Xbox-branded handheld | Different processor and configuration | Not established by the cited availability pages |
Search results that say only “Ally X” can point to the older ROG Ally X rather than the Xbox-branded RC73XA. Check the full title and model number, not just the shortened name.
What the $999.99 Ally X includes
- Windows 11 Home
- AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor
- 24GB LPDDR5X memory
- 1TB M.2 2280 SSD
- 7-inch 1,920×1,080 IPS touchscreen at 120Hz and 500 nits
- 80Wh battery
- Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4
It is a Windows gaming handheld with Xbox integration, not a closed console. That means broader PC-game compatibility, but also the normal Windows setup, driver and firmware considerations that come with a handheld PC.

Buy now, wait or choose the standard Ally?
Buy now when
- Best Buy or ASUS shows a completed checkout path for a new RC73XA.
- The price is $999.99 or a clearly disclosed lower amount.
- The seller and shipper are identified and the delivery or pickup date works for you.
- You want the higher-end processor, 24GB memory, 1TB storage and 80Wh battery.
Wait when
- The item disappears from the cart or becomes unavailable after ZIP-code verification.
- Only marketplace units remain, particularly those priced above $999.99.
- The ASUS label says in stock but the product page or cart gives no orderable delivery date.
- You need a guaranteed official-store purchase and Microsoft remains out of stock.
Choose the standard ROG Xbox Ally when price matters most
ASUS lists the regular ROG Xbox Ally at $599.99 with a Ryzen Z2 A processor and 16GB memory. It is the lower-cost route to the Xbox-oriented Windows handheld experience, but it is a less powerful configuration than the Ally X.
Marketplace and import risks
- Inflated pricing: Stock-tracking pages have surfaced marketplace examples above $1,300; such offers are not evidence of a higher official price.
- Open-box confusion: Confirm condition before paying a near-new price.
- Bundles: Check whether accessories explain any premium.
- Imports: Verify keyboard layout, charger, warranty coverage and regional support.
- Fulfillment changes: Inventory may be location-specific or disappear before payment.
A marketplace listing is not automatically unsafe, but the seller, condition, fulfillment and return terms must be visible at checkout. The TrackaLacker listing page illustrates why unusually high marketplace prices deserve caution.
Bottom line for this stock check
For U.S. buyers, Best Buy is the retailer showing the clearest immediate purchase signal at the official $999.99 price, while Microsoft is out of stock. ASUS’s own index simultaneously reports RC73XA in stock, so check ASUS directly before assuming Best Buy is the only legitimate source. Buy only after the final cart confirms the RC73XA, new condition, seller, fulfillment method and total price. If those checks fail, wait rather than paying a marketplace premium; the $599.99 standard ROG Xbox Ally is the documented lower-cost alternative.
