If the item is eligible, place a pickup order and wait for the ready-for-pickup email before traveling. Micro Center’s current locator lists 30 operating U.S. stores; Austin is announced for mid-to-late 2026 but is not open yet.
How many Micro Center stores are operating?
Micro Center’s current official locator identifies 30 operating stores in the United States. The chain has a concentrated metropolitan footprint rather than nationwide coverage, so shipping availability does not necessarily mean a nearby store exists. Use the locator for the latest status instead of relying on an undated city list.
Some older Micro Center page templates still say “25 Locations Nationwide.” That wording is stale compared with the newer locator’s 30-store count.

How to find the closest store by ZIP code
- Open the Micro Center Store Locator.
- Enter your ZIP code in “Find Your Nearest Micro Center.”
- Review the returned store and mileage. Travel time may differ substantially from straight-line distance.
- Select the store to view its official address, hours, directions, services, inventory, and pickup options.
- Keep that same location selected in the site’s store selector while viewing a product and checking out.
Google Maps or Apple Maps can help with navigation and traffic, but Micro Center’s locator is the final authority for store status, official hours, local inventory, pickup eligibility, and store-specific services.
Regular hours and same-day exceptions
Micro Center lists regular hours of Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m. These are not guarantees for every date. Holidays, severe weather, temporary closures, and opening-status changes can alter the schedule. Check the selected store’s page immediately before departure; Micro Center notes the possibility of holiday and inclement-weather exceptions at its official hours information.

How to check local inventory
- Set the intended store in Micro Center’s location selector.
- Open the product page.
- Confirm that the product page still shows the correct store.
- Review the local availability or pickup status, not merely an “available online” message.
- If eligible, choose Pick Up In Store and complete checkout.
- Wait for the confirmation email stating that the order is ready.
Micro Center says its website provides the latest location-specific inventory information, but a cart or saved list does not reserve merchandise. Inventory can change before checkout, and limited-quantity products may have purchase limits. Details are in Micro Center’s inventory guidance.

For eligible in-stock products, Micro Center advertises pickup readiness in approximately 18 minutes. That is an estimate, not a universal promise; the actual time can vary with the item, store, demand, and operating conditions. Do not leave for the store until the ready-for-pickup email arrives.
- Not every product is pickup-eligible.
- The selected store must be correct throughout checkout.
- A cart or wish list does not hold an item.
- Scarce GPUs, CPUs, consoles, and promotional bundles can sell out or carry purchase limits.
You can browse or buy directly in a store without ordering online, but an unreserved item may sell before you arrive. A completed pickup order and ready email are safer when access to a specific product matters.

Depending on the location, Micro Center promotes PC components, complete computers, monitors, peripherals, networking equipment, cables, open-box merchandise, and other electronics. Services promoted by Micro Center include:

- Laptop screen and battery replacement.
- Data recovery and virus removal.
- Hardware upgrades and installation.
- Custom PC building.
- Apple repair.
- GPU trade-in and recycling programs.
- Walk-up Knowledge Bar technical support.
Service availability, pricing, appointment requirements, staffing, and turnaround times differ by store. Check the individual store page or schedule service rather than assuming every location offers identical capacity. Micro Center’s service descriptions appear on pages such as the Austin store page.

Store availability and online availability are different. Micro Center’s selector includes a “Shippable Items” option, indicating that some products can be shipped even when no store is nearby. Not every product is shippable: some are store-specific, in-store-only, or subject to pickup restrictions.

- Order online when the item is shippable and delivery is more practical than a long trip.
- Consider another retailer or an independent computer shop when local inventory, price, or service availability is better elsewhere.
- Travel to the nearest store when same-day access, hands-on selection, compatibility help, repair, or custom-building assistance justifies the trip.
Before traveling, compare distance and traffic, exact-date hours, local stock, pickup eligibility, service appointments, return or warranty requirements, and whether the item is limited, in-store-only, or shippable.

Micro Center lists Austin at 12707 N. Mopac Expressway, Austin, TX 78727-4229, with an expected opening in mid-to-late 2026. The company says it will be its 31st U.S. store when it opens. As reflected on the Austin store page and store selector, it is labeled “Coming 2026” or “Temporarily Closed,” not an operating store. Check the official announcement for status changes before planning a visit.
Common problems and the correct fix
The locator shows a store that is not open
Check whether the listing is an announced or temporarily closed location. Austin is the current example; do not treat its address as an open retail store.
