The Galaxy XCover7 Pro leak previewed much of Samsung’s rugged phone, but the handset is no longer a pre-launch rumor: Samsung announced it on April 14, 2025, and it became available in the United States on May 8, 2025. The phone has a removable 4,350mAh battery, programmable keys and IP68 protection; Samsung’s US Business store lists the unlocked 128GB model at $599.99. The leaked European price of about €599 was an estimate, not a universal final price.

Samsung’s global announcement and official specifications establish the main hardware. Availability, configurations and carrier support vary by region.
What does the XCover7 Pro look like?
It is built as a work phone, not a slim consumer handset. The black body has reinforced edges and a removable rear cover, with a flat display and centered waterdrop-style front-camera notch. A dual-camera module sits at the upper left of the back. Samsung’s product material shows the ruggedized design that earlier leaked renders had previewed.
Physical controls are part of the design: a programmable XCover Key and Top Key can be assigned to supported tasks, while a fingerprint reader is built into the side. The phone also has POGO-pin contacts for compatible charging docks. Samsung’s published specifications include USB-C and a 3.5mm headphone jack; check the specific regional model before relying on port or connectivity details.

- RUGGED AND READY: Work confidently with a durable design that withstands the drops and spills of your work environment.¹ Galaxy XCover7 Pro stood up to MIL-STD-810H testing and a 1.5m drop test.² An IP68 rating stands up to dust, dirt, sand and water.
- FASTER CONNECTION. SMOOTHER JOBS: Get the fast connection you need to get the job done.³ Galaxy XCover7 Pro offers faster wireless data networks 5G and Wi-Fi 6E, ensuring high-speed connectivity.
- POWER THROUGH YOUR HOURS: Have plenty of battery life for all your tasks with a long-lasting battery that sees you through your workday - and then some.⁴
- KEEP YOUR GLOVES ON: Save time and frustration with a sensitive touchscreen that picks up the slightest finger pressure - no more stopping to take off your gloves. Work where it’s wet, damp or humid? The touchscreen still tracks your finger, no problem.
- AN ECOSYSTEM THAT HELPS GET THE JOB DONE: Make sure your employees have the right tools for the job with a rich partner ecosystem.
At approximately 168.6 × 79.9 × 10.2mm and 240g, it is noticeably thick and heavy beside many mainstream phones. Those dimensions are listed in Samsung’s 2025 interim report.
Confirmed specifications and what they mean
Display
The 6.6-inch LCD has a 2408 × 1080 resolution and refreshes at up to 120Hz. Samsung describes outdoor visibility features including Outdoor Vision Booster. Launch and review coverage report Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, but glass specifications can vary by regional model; consult the local listing rather than assuming every version is identical. At this price, the LCD is a practical work-oriented panel, not an AMOLED upgrade.

Processor, memory and storage
The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 is paired with Android 15 and One UI 7 in Samsung’s launch materials. Samsung lists 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and, in some markets, an 8GB/256GB configuration. A microSD card can add up to 2TB of storage, useful for offline maps, manuals and work photos. These are regional configurations rather than a guarantee that both options are sold in every country.
Cameras
The rear setup combines a 50MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide; the front camera is 13MP. That is a useful specification for documentation and routine calls, but megapixel counts alone do not establish image quality. The XCover7 Pro is not positioned as a camera-focused rival to Samsung’s Galaxy S line.

Battery and charging
Samsung specifies a 4,350mAh typical-capacity battery that users can remove and replace. Compatible POGO-pin docks support workplace charging; docks are separate accessories. Capacity does not guarantee a particular runtime, which depends on workload, signal, display settings and battery condition. Samsung advises using compatible certified replacement batteries, so do not assume an older XCover battery will fit.
Durability and connectivity
Samsung specifies IP68 dust and water resistance and MIL-STD-810H durability testing. These ratings are not a promise that the phone is indestructible or safe in every water exposure. A damaged or improperly seated rear cover, salt water, chemicals, high-pressure spray and charging with a wet USB port can create risks; inspect the cover and port and follow Samsung’s handling guidance.

Connectivity specifications include 5G Sub-6, LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and Wi-Fi Direct. Band support, SIM behavior, carrier certification and other features can differ by model number and country. Verify the exact regional SKU with Samsung or the carrier before purchase, particularly for a work fleet.
How accurate was the pre-launch leak?
The early-April 2025 reports got the broad outline right. Samsung’s final product details confirm the core design, processor, display size and refresh rate, removable battery, microSD expansion and a 128GB option. Some early coverage presented one configuration or estimated pricing as though it would apply everywhere; Samsung’s launch information shows market-dependent configurations instead.

Samsung also uses different model numbers for regional and carrier versions. The leak report’s SM-G766B reference does not mean every market sells that exact variant; Samsung’s US listings include separate unlocked and carrier models.

United States
Samsung’s US Business store lists the unlocked black 128GB model for $599.99. That is the listed price for this specific configuration, not a guaranteed street price or a worldwide MSRP. Carrier offers, business-account discounts and promotions can change the amount paid. Samsung lists separate AT&T and Verizon versions; check current terms and compatibility before ordering.
Europe and other markets
The approximately €599 figure came from pre-launch reporting, not a confirmed universal Samsung price. The handset was announced globally on April 14, 2025, but launch timing and storage options differed across countries. For a European or other non-US purchase, use the local Samsung price and exact model listing rather than converting the US price or treating the rumor as a final retail price. Samsung’s US announcement gives the US availability context.
Who gets value from the XCover7 Pro?
A good fit for field work
- Field technicians, delivery and warehouse staff, construction crews, utilities and transportation workers who need a phone designed for demanding environments.
- Organizations that can use programmable keys for push-to-talk, a camera, flashlight or a supported work app.
- Users who benefit from swapping a battery during a shift, expanding local storage or charging multiple devices through compatible docks.
- Businesses already using Samsung’s Knox and device-management ecosystem, subject to the specific tools and support plan they need.
A poor fit for casual use
- Anyone who prioritizes a light, thin phone, an AMOLED screen or stronger camera performance per dollar.
- People who only need occasional splash or drop protection and would not use a replaceable battery or hardware keys.
- Buyers whose carrier, required bands or fleet software have not been verified for the exact model.
What to check before buying
- Match the model to your market and carrier. Confirm the model number, supported bands, SIM behavior, warranty and carrier certification with the local listing.
- Compare the actual price with the work features you need. At Samsung’s listed US price of $599.99 for the unlocked 128GB model, the rugged construction and serviceability need to matter to you; ordinary mid-range phones may offer a thinner body or stronger camera for similar money.
- Confirm the configuration. Verify RAM, storage and regional features on the SKU being sold, rather than relying on a leak or another country’s product page.
- Budget for workplace accessories if needed. Samsung says POGO docks are sold separately and replacement batteries should be compatible certified products.
- Compare an older XCover only on current terms. The XCover6 Pro may cost less if discounted, but check its present price and confirm that its older platform meets your software, battery, audio and display requirements.
Verdict
The leak was broadly accurate about the XCover7 Pro’s design and headline hardware, but Samsung’s announced product—not the old rumor—is the useful reference now. At its listed US price, the phone makes the clearest case for people who will use its removable battery, physical shortcut keys, rugged build or Samsung business ecosystem. For everyday buyers who do not need those features, its weight, LCD and work-first camera system make a conventional mid-range phone a more sensible comparison.
